Yes. Decent card.
Few cans being supped.
I'm going for a punch from Dubois stopping it.

Dubouis knocks him out hopefully he has the best chance of progressing, gets interesting for Joyce if gets to later rounds.

The build up to this fight started when Frazier fought Ali. 😀 or at least it seems like it.

Daniel Dubois is a future world heavyweight champion so I expect him to win against a very good unbeaten opponent. If he doesn't, he's got plenty of time to come again.

Tough to call genuinely excited by this one shame no fans. Interesting to see how much Joyces experience & extra size counts
I'm not bothered by Tyson v Jones Jnr mind!
I certainly wouldnt pay for it!
8x2 min rounds exhibition looks like a cash grab

Jack Catterall on next looking for a Chorley double. Unbeaten mandatory challenger for the WBO light-welterweight belt. Good undercard.

Snap GJJW

Catterall is shite not a chance he's world class as he's been built up totally over rated European level at best,

Who's the support fight on Tyson/Jones Bill... Rocky v Hulk "Thunder lips" Hogan..

Our best boxer was Paul Ince and his fullback son, Tom. Or maybe Brian Harper, used to sit next to his daughter at school👊

In my opinion, but I did love Ali, Minter, Stacey. I’m obviously ageing 🤓

Can't believe it. Dubois sat down. As I said before, he's got plenty of time to learn his trade and come back better. Well done Joe Joyce.

That left eye just got worse and worse, couldn't see.

His eye was gone and at 23, no point causing damage.
Surely if you are gonna do your bit for BLM you take the knee prefight? 🤪

Thought they were very hard on the kid in the studio saying he quit, As you say only 23 and he will come back.
Experience won the day but it was an even fight & if his eye hadnt swelled from very early on he may have won?

Credit to Joyce for his fight plan. His jab discouraged Dubois and broke his spirit. Could be a long way back for DDD as he's lost his air of invincibilty.

Dubois didn't exactly go out on his shield did he? Closed eye or no closed eye, you don't do that especially in front of millions of TV viewers, I'd be too embarrassed to do that in front of the regulars from my pub watching in a street fight behind a boozer.

he has gone to hospital with a suspected broken orbital bone.

I don't get this quitting allegation. He had enough minerals to go into a ring and fight someone, more than 95% of the population would. The kid lives to fight another day, good on him.

Disagree Shandy, sure you need minerals to actually get in the ring in the first place, however a fight stops when either your corner throws the towel in or the ref steps in to save you from further punishment, neither of these two happened and DDD basically sat down and said enough is enough.

Also lets not forget this is the first time in his career his opponent has not actually collapsed like a deck of cards under his barrage of punches, the first time someone can take them and give some back just as hard he doesn't fancy it one bit.

For me he quit.

Jim Watt and others accused Gerald McClellan of quitting. If a boxer doesn't fancy anymore why is that a bad thing? Didn't DD have a fractured eye socket I'm pretty certain most boxers would pack in at that point

Yes. Nasty injury by the sounds of it. Think Kell Brook did the same thing to his eye and he never looked the same after.

Two things on DDD's side -- he's still only 23 and while he quit, he lost without getting completely banjo'd in the latter stages, which if you're running on an empty tank having taken 12 rounds of shots can be pretty devastating.

He's incredibly physically gifted, got good feet and actually has a great jab (not utilised well last night, though). Through some good matchmaking and sparring he could come again and challenge for a World Title in a few years IMO - though it's an ask and it could very easily go the other way, pending just how much last night affected him physically and mentally.

He seemed to gas quite early on too, which is never a good sign. So some work to be done there.

Thank god for the main event though. Quite a dull card otherwise. Thought I'd spice it up a little bit by watching the Yoka fight from Friday which wasn't a great watch either!

Stuck a little bit of cash on Joyce in the final three rounds after seeing how tired DDD was after the first handful - with Paddy still offering 13/1!

Yeah but you are proper old school raging. Times have moved on now even in boxing. Lets be honest there have been deaths in the ring & people with serious injuries for being 'too brave' .
We dont want another Michael Watson.

Let me crack your eye socket with a hammer and then let a 17 stone bloke repeatedly punch you in the face. The accusation of quitting is nonsense
I’m not making a judgement but you said the accusation of quitting is nonsense. If he wasn’t knocked down and his corner didn’t throw the towel in, what else can you call it ?

He suffered a broken eye socket, I've never had one but I expect it's fairly painful. If a football player suffered such an injury and rightly goes off the field, is that quitting? What's the difference? It's a smear that gets thrown at boxers but the lad did the right thing and it's laughable how people typing on their keyboard think otherwise.

I agree about the injury and I would imagine it’s not fairly painful I would imagine it’s bloody excruciating and I don’t blame him one bit for saying enough is enough. But in boxing circles where they are all tough hard men it’s still quitting.

At 23, with his whole career in front of him, I think it may have been a wise move on his part.

It was, saved what could be permanent damage and you only have 2 eyes which are not replaceable. I am just being devils advocate on behalf of the other fighters who have been making the accusations.

I was listening to talk sport as I was going into work this morning.
They had Spencer Oliver on commenting on how the fight went.
When it was mentioned that Dubios had quit Oliver said "to anyone who thought Dubios had quit try running head first into one of your radiators at home, then after you realise that your eye socket is fractured keep doing it and see how long you can take it for".

I've actually fractured my eye socket and I'll be the first to tell anyone it bloody hurts.
