Virtue at fault....

For both goals imo and looked like he was running through treacle the whole game, nowhere near fit.....

Granted, the first goal is a great strike, but Virtue was so slow, one simple change of direction from the lad and Matty V takes an age to react.

The second goal, again we stand off, huge stroke of luck for Brighton but again Virtue is nowhere near quick enough to close the lad down.

He's a decent player but looked well off the pace today and shattered.

Not sure if you can blame him for the goals, but do agree he looked off the pace and hardly noticed he was on the pitch.

Their first goal was one of the best I’ve seen us concede in 27 years of watching BFC. If you think that’s Virtue’s fault you must have an issue with him

Watch it again...... Great strike as I said, but the lad who scored turned onto his right foot and Virtue was miles too slow, he should never have got the shot away.

Players who were on the pitch today who should be miles further away from our first XI than Matt Virtue:

Thorniley
MJ Williams
Sarkic
Lubala
KaiKai

It was the turn that did Virtue not his fault like a boxer doing a faint you normally end up with a snack in the mouth this ended up with a brilliant goal.

At the end of the day it is a team effort so unfair to blame 1 individual
Had we scored that first goal then we would have been waxing lyrical about our player turned the man superbly and let rip with a scorcher.
One of the best strikes I have seen in a while.
It was far too easy for Brighton getting crosses in today so how about blame on our wide players who should have stopped the crosses.
Maxwell is a great talent and Gabriel had a decent game.
On any other day we could have conceded 5 or 6 goals but we didn’t so we can walk away with our heads held high.
Some seem to forget that Brighton are a Premiership outfit.

The trouble with that Paddle is that these players need to be called on - this season more than ever. We already know how impossible it is to keep our first Xl together for any length of time: Hamilton, Anderson, Dougall all out.

Brighton a Premier League side and we had 8 out, plus Kemp and Woodburn have left in last game or two.

Always looks slow to me, struggles to get around the pitch, even before his injury. I think with time on the ball he's OK but a lot of players look great with time on the ball

Not all goals are somebody's fault. Do you blame Dunk for our goal because he didn't mark Madine closely enough?

I actually thought Virtue did a lot of decent work trying to link midfield and attack. Quite how you blame someone for a 30+ yard strike is beyond me. We stepped off him to cover the through ball, he cracked an absolute once in a lifetime effort home. It happens.

Virtue was actually closer to Madine than Yates was at times. He always works hard, he's not the fastest. Got some decent interceptions, carried the ball and was generally tidy.

The second goal was a stupid deflection.

After Virtue went off, Brighton just attacked at will more or less though that was partly down to the ball not sticking up top ((c) Chissy) sans Madine

I thought he did ok.

Needing someone or something to blame has become prevalent in society nowdays.
It always has to be someone's fault, it is kind of a safety net/blanket
Instead of accepting that certain things just happen, it's easier to point the finger.

If Maxwell was a great talent he wouldnt be bouncing between league one clubs.

What a daft op, like you said yourself a worldy top corner screamer from 25 yards and a deflected shot well wide if our keeper 🙄

Virtue at fault for the goals.

And right about now, Ollie Turton is self isolating with a brew and a biscuit thinking "thank god I've got covid"

I’m not a Virtue fan at all but I think blaming him for the goals is harsh. He probably should have closed his man down quicker but you can’t really allow for the lad doing that from that distance.

I can’t warm to him. I don’t understand what kind of player he’s meant to be, he lacks aggression and work rate. When everyone’s fit he shouldn’t be near the side.

I've heard some professional athletes are having serious problems getting back to full fitness after recovering from COVID. Obviously won't all be affected the same but worth considering he might be suffering from the aftermath and wasn't back to 100% before he got ill.
