Well Done Critch!

Bit unfair that Mosser. He's got stuff wrong this season but today he was bold and did what a lot off here have been asking for, going away and setting up as a 442 as opposed to going 1 up front as he did at Ipswich the other week. He got it spot on in thinking that let's try to win it rather than play for a point and guess what, we won ! Let's hope that he stays with that mindset because we can beat anybody in this division if we play our game rather than worry about theirs !

I’ve put that Ipswich game out of my mind now mate. Still prefer the 12 points out of 15 statistic 😀👍🏼

If we'd drawn 0 0, as we could easily have done, there would be plenty saying he'd settled for a point away from home and wasnt ambitious enough.

Don't get me wrong, I thought the performance warranted a win, but plenty would have been fuming after only getting a point at Portsmouth.

All too many happy to slag mainly because unless we win every game, they're not satisfied.

Agree with @thedevilsadvocate - I think he's got quite a lot wrong this season however it's easy to forget he is a rookie manager learning his trade and will inevitably make mistakes along the way. I'd just like to see us really start to command some games before I will throw all the plaudits his way.

Are you not warming to our Critch a little bit yet Mac?
Go on admit it, you’re starting to get a little twinkle in your eye for the silver haired lothario????

I am yes. Of course. I've never really been a huge critic of him, I get frustrated quite a lot with him but at times the football is good.

But I will defend the right for anyone to express whatever opinion they like especially if it's unpopular with the "Critchy Crawleys" that won't hear a bad word said about him and attack anyone with an alternative view.

That's cool Mac, you are welcome to your opinion and I will defend your right to express it :)

Me, I'm gonna put some praise Critch's way and exude some positivity!

Shut a few people up today. Brilliant.
Nice to see him making good subs at good times, been pretty horrific the majority of the season. This squad has the quality to be top 6 now. Challenging for the top two. We're not. And we're still some way.

We've been absolute shite and we've won two games in a row. Which I'll take everytime, but he hasn't shut anyone up at all.

Tend to agree, you are a fickle lot.
Wiz was right, if Jerry hadn't scored his wonder goal people would have been slagging Critch off

He is a manager in his first full season so will make mistakes, he has made us solid at the back and across the middle but for me we still lack creativity and directness going forward from the whole team, full backs, midfielders and forwards.
A midfielder very rarely gets in front of the ball, whilst this means we are solid and always have men behind the ball it also means we fall deeper into defence and the gap between midfield and forwards grows resulting in the forwards being left isolated, this needs to be addressed.
If we concede we don't look like overturning the deficit and we seldom score more than 1 per game.
The quality we have is being suppressed by the tactics, win one lose one is better than draw twice.
Pompey commentators said yesterday "we managed to lose to a team who only came for a draw"

You're welcome to your opinion dude.

This was always going to be a two season project and I'll remain supportive of Critch thanks.

At what point have I said I'm not supportive?

I am and believe he will get it right but refuse to jump to believing he is the messiah just yet.

They might have said that, but they were unbelievably next level biased towards Portsmouth and couldn't see a single thing a Pompey player did wrong. Awful to listen to at times but I guess they are home commentators. It was an even game. But considering they are 4th, that's why I make my comments about we should be top 6.

Only Ipswich have I thought were any good this season, the majority of the rest of the league are poor bar maybe Accy/Lincoln and Hull. I've not been impressed by anyone else.

You haven't been. He's just on the wind up.

No I'm not, I'm a 'grown up'.

My post was to acknowledge NC's part in a vital win. His role is/was as important as Yates's goal. This site is awash with negativity and criticism, so this is a little bit of supportive praise.

Simple as that. Nothing to get annoyed or worked up about.

I don't disagree with any of that.

I have posted before that this division is poor and there for the taking but we do have to go out and take it.
That means staying sound defensively but when we have the ball in the final third we need to show some real intent (like Jerry did for his goal) by getting in the area, getting shots off and running at retreating defenders.
At the moment we are too happy to "stay in shape" to "rework an opening" "be patient " and all the other cliches that add up to the same thing.
Let's go for it when we get opportunities too, that's all I ask.

I believe we will start to get this right but we need to do it sooner rather than later
