'Fantastic' ref

I was cursing the ref all through the game and was convinced he'd come up with some crazy decision to cost us the game. However he allowed the play to go on rather than blow up for the obvious foul on yates even with his assistant flagging wildly. So I'll give him 1/10 for that decision. The rest of the time he hadn't a clue . Great win in the end. Defended well but a lot of stray passes mainly up front. Gabriel starting to stand out though I'd be surprised if he would sign on a permanent contract. As everyone on here says, we are still short of that tricky, skillful mid-fielder to open up defences. Maybe the Sunderland chap can give us that. Good to see NC didn't put Virtue on the wing again; that never worked. Kai Kai not bad today but could and should do better with his skill.

Tricky, skillful mid-fielder to open up defences..... That be CJ then in a week or two
 
Perhaps the game would be better off without them. Rather than has a toss the players then could just argue the toss.

still think he should of booked the guy who fouled yates. He should of gone back after he had scored it was a nailed on booking but im not sure if it was the guy who had already been booked so it would of been a red
 
Whatever the rights and wrongs of the Simms yellow, he could easily have had a more justified second one shortly after. The ref opted for a talking to instead. Perhaps he realised his first one was harsh. If Simms had walked we would not have won
 
On the whole, as refs go, I thought he was quite reasonable, we've had a lot worse and have also had a lot better. Full marks for him allowing Yates to continue before his great winning goal.
