Charlton v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 27.02.21

It feels like Ipswich away again. They are in poor form, their are voices of discontent about their manager and it is a ground we rarely win. Hopefully we go 2 up top and set off on a positive foot, if we do, I can see another narrow win.

In theory we should be fresher than them and raring to go. That could be the last time we get to say that this season so we should try and make the most of it!!

After Tuesdays cancellation I’m hoping the players are itching to go & still full of confidence from Jerry’s winner (team effort). 1-2 pool Yates 38 minutes.

Really tough game, they have goals in them. If we can keep the door shut for 80 mins or so we may pinch it on the break.

Reading their forum they ain't happy and not confident.

Not been a good ground for us... but 2 up top going for a 0 3 win.. Yates hatrick. If we have promotion ambitions we must win this imo

Dare I say I'm really looking forward to this? I hope it's not an angst-riddled ride like it was against Portsmouth...you know, a nervy one-niller followed by Critchley and the boys doing pressers to say how professionally they managed it.
Let's flood the Charlton goal with...errr, goals.
OK, I do know better: 1-0 to the Pool.

Does anyone know if Madine and CJ are fit enough to make the bench ?

Charlton on a poor run, pool getting results. Hopefully no repeat of the Ipswich game and a 1-2 narrow win. Oh, and no cards for Husband.

Charlton not won at home in ages, some fans calling for Bowyer's head. Beaten by lowly Burton on Tuesday.

All bad omens..

For Blackpool. We never do well when stats are in our favour.

I saw the home game against Charlton and they had a few tasty performers that night. Bogle and Doughty who caused 'Pool problems have since moved on and we have improved since then so it will be different game today.

I think 'Pool are more than capable of all 3 points this afternoon..

...its just those omens

Thank god the team has been named and we can get back to talking about football.

Dougall might be carrying a slight knock or be in need of a breather, hasn't looked the same since his Covid troubles.

Happy enough with that team considering we're still missing a fair few key players.

Never been convinced by Virtue but fingers crossed he can put in a performance today. No forward options on the bench but 3 centre midfielders, seems odd to me. Surely better to have a forward option even if it’s one of the youth lads ?

Be interesting to see where Virtue will play. I don’t see him anywhere good enough to replace Dougall in the middle, likewise to replace Ward out wide. Not saying he’s not a good player, I just don’t think he has the necessary pace at this level. Hope he does well today.
