Most improved player

Been a very strange season in terms of players barely playing and then all of a sudden being thrown into the side for a run of games. Players like Mitchell, Thorniley and Gabriel who looked like fringe players at best at the start of the season have played a massive role over the last few months. Big Marv has obviously improved from the moment he stepped in the door. You could maybe make an argument for Yates considering he didn’t score in the first 9 games, but even in those games he was doing everything but score imo. Any I’ve missed out?

I'd go for Ekpiteta in terms of overall improvement, at first he looked okay if not a bit shaky and developed into our most reliable defender that you could partner anyone up with and he remained consistent in his performances. This is only his SECOND SEASON IN PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL, and his first at league one level to boot - when you consider that his development is absolutely unbelievable, a huge loss when he got injured.

Gabriel is a great shout in terms of his first performance to how he plays now.

Gabriel has been superb most games he's played. In over 85% so not him.

Has to be Marvin for me, maybe even Yates.

Big Marv for the reasons given above. Was the epitome of raw in those first few games, but then came on leaps and bounds.

Turton was gash last season but has probably been one of our most consistent performers this season. So much so I would be happy for him to get a contract extension, and I never thought I would say that

I think Critch’s credentials as a coach are really becoming evident when you see the improvement in some of these players over a season.
Marv looked clueless the first 8 games and before his injury looked like League 1’s VVD.
Turton and Madine are different players under Critch than they were last season and developing older pro’s is supposed to be much harder.
Gabriel and Mitchell have gone from being a League 2 loanee and a fringe player in a relegated Scottish premier league team to looking like they’re comfortable at this level - Gabriel in particular looks ready to be a leading Championship right back next season and Forest may well consider loaning him to us this season as their best bit of transfer business for some time. If he gets a run of games in a successful Forest team next season, given his age and pace he’ll be worth £5 million +.
I doubt they’d be dreaming of that this time last season.
I think Epiketa is most improved. I think the improvement Turton has made is most spectacular though. League 1 / 2 and relatively solid and consistent pre Critch and now he looks like a class above IMO in a number of positions

Turton was gash last season but has probably been one of our most consistent performers this season. So much so I would be happy for him to get a contract extension, and I never thought I would say that
Yeah, over the longer period of time I'd go Turton too. In a shorter period ie this season then Ekpiteta.

I thought Marv looked good at the start of the season, just a tad nervy playing in a new division, surrounded by a makeshift defence, prior to us signing Ballard, Gretarsson, Gabriel and Garbutt (and Dougal). He has improved as he has settled in and the team around him has improved but his ability was apparent from the word go. I also think Turton has been at a similar level for a long time, previous seasons too. He's a steady player.

Kaikai has improved a fair bit recently. Ward has steadily improved through the season. Mitchell is improving. It's all about playing regularly and avoiding injury really innit?

I nearly forgot Gary. Went from abject waste of money to a decent holding player in quite a short space of time. :)

Big Marv for me, started off quite shaky but became an absolute rock at the back shortly after.

Madine, and Turton improved massively aswell

Ekpiteta from the begining of the season has steadily improved. Ward has always had the skill and ability, but the player who seems to be making his mark now is Mitchell.

Gabriel has come on leaps and bounds, some player in the making hope we sign him

There's a few but Yates for me . . . he looked like a little boy lost at the start of the season and then as soon as he scored and found a great partner in Madine he was transformed. He's been one of our shining lights ever since.

Just looking at some of those on the books before NC arrived:
Maxwell, Turton, Husband, Ward, Virtue, Kaikai, Madine.
ALL look much improved on last season and seem fitter, stronger and more focused.
Maxwell's comments on a recent Preview Show podcast were very revealing about the coaching on offer here now.
