Swindon Town v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 02.04.21

We have a real problem with beating very poor teams in this division. Swindon might have won their last two but they are exceptionally poor and nailed on for relegation in my eyes. Exactly the sort of game we haven't been winning recently and if we're to be taken seriously then we have to beat Swindon.

We comfortably beat Swindon during our woeful period at the start of the season, we're miles better than we were then but Swindon have a new manager and may be a completely different outfit tactically. Hopefully they haven't been studying the first half tapes for Burton/Plymouth!

Hopefully those first half performances have just been a blip in our promotion chase and we get out this rut of not being able to beat teams in the bottom half. Same as the reverse fixture for me, 2 nil Blackpool win. COME ON YOU TANGERINE WIZARDS.

I remember driving from Blackpool to Swindon with my brother in March/April 1970 and we only just got in before they closed the gates at 6-30! Don Rogers(who has a stand named after him) ran us ragged and they were soon 1-0 up but Mickey Burns scored and King Alan(sudds) should have got us the winner but the draw was vital and set us up for the next game at Deepdale winning promotion and sending them down. Lets go all out for a win this time.

We’re gonna draw against all these shit teams and beat all the good ones, leaving us in 6th place and with no more shit teams to worry about 😊

Great stuff! I remember Suddick being interviewed on Look North after a match at Swindon, late season. I'm pretty sure it was our promotion season. I remember him saying :"They're all tough at this stage of the season". UTMP!

Hadn't they just beaten Arsenal in the League Cup?

If I was looking at this as a neutral observer looking to place a bet I would have to say Blackpool based on form, league position and Yates playing against his old club.
Looking at this as a Blackpool fan I am apprehensive and have no idea what the result will be!

We are a funny team the perfect record of winning away and drawing at home, that is promotion form but back to front, when is the last time we won 5 on the bounce away? Anyway it is just great to be in there at the business end of the season, would be great to be in the Championship, a win for me tomorrow and i have no idea what team is going to turn up, but we get results, draws when not playing well and wins at other times when unexpected and we have learned not to get beat.

These are sheridans views on Jerry Yates before match tomorrow
SHERIDAN ON YATES

He's an excellent player who wants to improve. Got a great work ethic and he's getting his rewards now. He hasn't got outstandin ability, but he wants to do the best he can with what he's got.

I watched Blackpool on Saturday, they're a good team who want to get into the play-offs. They've got Jerry who scores goals, but they'll be aware we are a threat as well.

I was on the Blackpool Supporters Club bus at Swindon for this night game in April 1970, we stayed in the Swindon Town Supporters Club for an hour after the match and had a post match celebration. Got home after 3am but I still went into work at 7am still buzzing. If Swindon had won that night they would have gone above Blackpool and been favourites for promotion.

backhanded compliment CLAXON - lets hope Yatesy can shove that down Sheridan's throat this afternoon.

got a feeling we might score early on because they are a team that mess around in the area around their penalty area, if we do think we might get a hatful

Gunna watch the Charlton v Doncaster game in five minutes think a draw would be the best outcome but whateva the result we will be 8th prior to our game kicking off.

Their groundsman has just been in bother for drink driving.

Let's hope the grass has been cut

I suggested a 4-2-2-2 on a couple of threads, can I claim Critchley has been taking note of my genius? #SignTangerinePeelUp

Three nil loss incoming now 😂
