Meanwhile at Ewood

Oh dear, how sad. 😃
Manager said after the game he wasn't going to hand in his notice.
Obviously after the big pay-off.

Luton and Coventry as well. Clearly a struggle financially for quite a few clubs and perhaps more will follow.

I've been wondering all year how The Neighbours have got away with their own version of free fall without parachute. Obviously due to the even worse season of the bottom 3-4.

But now it looks more like Rovers will be the ones to get away with it by default, not them. I wouldn't be surprised if Mowbray was gone this week, but I'll be amazed if he's still there by season end.

Wtf is going on? Sure I read Sheff W are under embargo yesterday and now it’s Luton, Cardiff and Coventry as well as Blackburn?

It's less the club's fault and more poor/inconsistent EFL governance. HMRC allowed an extension of 3 months for filing accounts, which the EFL (despite reflecting lots of previous central government pandemic laws) hasn't allowed. It's nothing to do with failing finances.

As such, 10 or 11 of the EFL are under embargoes, embargoes which don't actually stop them signing players.

Fleetwood was under a transfer embargo too that’s why they couldn’t sign anyone in January. It had to be one in one out because they had £800,000 loan from some football organisation

This is going to make it a lot easier to keep our better players as the natural progression from us would be to a championship team.
Whichever division we find ourselves in next season we should hopefully be well placed to keep who we want to keep and maybe pick up a few signings like Stewart, Dougall and Garbutt who probably thought they would be playing a division higher this season.
All this assumes SS isn't struggling financially, but dont Hedge Fund people make their money in strange times like this?

Embargo ends as soon as clubs file their accounts in May, before the transfer window opens. Load of bollox from the EFL really. Not like them 🤔

Storm in a teacup really but why should a club need an extension anyway? Most of the others have managed it whilst at the same time been able to claim furlough money (for relevant administration staff)

All a bit meaningless as there are no transfers allowed at the moment until this season has ended

it’s not helpful for those in Clubs in Covid health difficulties desperate to find players to play out a fairly bizarre fixture schedule from the norm, and sets the tone for the real effects of Covid over the last year - the real impact of it is yet to come I think. Perhaps these latest accounts will reveal the true picture of English Pro football.

I think they’ll be regrettably be a lot of Clubs in financial dire straits - assuming we’re in relative calmer waters in terms of financial dire straits there is a real opportunity for richer Clubs to flourish at the expense of others

Eg I thought Gillingham’s blond haired right winger (? Graham) looked very good last Sat and he’s a player if I had a few Bob I’d be liking to tempt (he faded out of the match because Steve Evans switched him left 2nd half and he was ineffectual there so the Manager could slot in his subs)

so, perhaps the true mess of Covid is unravelling at least in the Championship but this will undoubtedly filter down the pyramid.

at the moment we (selfishly) look rosey, but none of us really know the state of anyone’s Clubs health

Because their finance / admin staff have ironically been placed on furlough !
