How not to run a football club....anyone know anything about this book?

There was mention of it on a recent thread by the author I believe. Being published in September it seems.

He's a Seasider and has published before. Did a magazine.

Looking forward to it.

He also posts on here occasionally.

Wiz

I've just had a quick look at the chap's Twitter and it would appear he is more familiar with NBA basketball than the Mighty.

Saying that, it's a book that I can't not buy.

At least one poster on here said they might give it a go at the time of the Court cases.
It's not you seasideone is it?!
Anyway it's a must read for me but I hope it's by someone close to the Club who is fully aware of the whole story.

No mate, not me - I will be buying though 👍

Hi all, yes I'm a Blackpool fan, no I'm not American!

I've been a fan all my life, used to post on the old avftt before joining Back Henry Street as a moderator. I actually helped Steed with his court case. My old username there was foggy but I stopped posting on avftt so you might not recognise the username.

I started this project in 2015 right in the middle of everything that was happening, so I have a lot of contemporaneous research and interviews. But I stopped because I was just out of university at the time, probably wasn't ready to write a book and of course litigation was still ongoing with fans.

I started the book back up again last year, it's coming out through Pitch Publishing in September. It will follow the club basically from 09 promotion right to Sadler taking over - all the court cases, boycotts, protests etc. I've got over 100,000 words easily of interviews done, I've interviewed key supporters from BST and the Knights, ex-players and staff from board members to managers. It's going to be, hopefully, the definitive, comprehensive record of that period of the club. It's probably about halfway finished, so well on track. Most of what has been written so far has been the off the field stuff, what was going on behind the scenes, which is the most difficult to research and write about, the rest will be a lot easier to cover.

Sorry if it seems a little strange right now, if you're just hearing about it, the book hasn't been 'hard launched' so to speak. I started a BFC twitter account yesterday just to help me reach out to some more people for interviews and people have picked up on the pre-orders. By the way, you can pre-order now, so please do! But there will be lots more updates, and a press campaign a bit closer to time, so keep an eye out for that. My 'basketball twitter' as one or two of you have found is my other love, of the NBA, which grew a lot when I was boycotting the team! My new BFC twitter account which will have updates on the book is @nathanfoggbfc

Also as Wizaard pointed out, I ran a couple of fanzines during the boycott years. 1887 magazine we did on Judgement Day 2 I believe.

Sounds good to me. Given the untimely demise of history making content such as the court threads, this is also a chance to capture some of the heartbreaking, poignant, uplifting, cathartic and downright hilarious moments in one place for posterity. 🧡👍

I hope you have spoken to TAM?

I'm going to buy the book as I bet most of us just don't know what was going on behind closed doors with the TK's and the court cases
but I'm sure there must be someone out there that would make a documentary out of it.
Imagine interviews with the Oystons (Rapey, KoKo and Lazarus) explaining their side of the story...."Where's the money gone Karl"....?

As an expose on football and "How Not To Run A Football Club"........There has to be someone out there that could pitch this to NetFlix or the BBC
It's got everything....David V Goliath, Dirty Money, Dirty Tricks, Violence, Theft, Court cases and lots of dodgy sex (well, on Owens part)

Netflix wouldn’t go for it, they’d say it was too far fetched!!

Maybe they will buy the book rights and turn it into a tv series, then I might make some money!

I'm going to buy this, I'm tempted to get three one each for my boys and me.

My youngest was born in 2009, so when he's older, it will be something that explains BFC from birth.

I hope you've got something from the court threads on original AVFTT.

And thank you for doing this.

Can we start a gofundme for Chisnall, it might make him think again.

Yea i'll be getting a copy.....late September launch so plenty should get a copy for Christmas present....hope you have it all cleared by the lawyers foggy 🙂

It's a time issue with me Seaside
Writing a book like this is a full time job

Absolutely Tim.

I know that you would do it justice but appreciate that you don't have the time to commit to such a project.

Perhaps you can write your memoirs when you are grey and old.

I wasn't being overly serious with my basketball quip Nathan.

Apologies, I will certainly be buying your book and hope it all goes well.

Decent Christmas present that for any Blackpool fans being released in September.

Might even buy a copy for my Evertonian cousins just to educate them!

Hey Foggy, I have some photos from some of the days at Court if you would like to use any? You may need permission for those on it though, not sure how that works, You will already have seen some from outside the Court the day the figure the Stains had to pay to VB. I also have some of the supporters in Court on that day just before it started.

Can't wait to read this.

I'm so grateful that someone has picked this up as a project. SO much went on it was like we were stumbling from shitstorm to shitstorm on a daily basis at some points.

I remember there being a timeline thread on the old site that kind of diarised the absurd goings on. Shame that thread isn't around for the author to use. Was it Herts or West Herts that created it? Can't remember It was very long and he added each shameful act one after another.

Anyway you can be assured that whatever the final product a lot of us back you and will purchase a copy. Well done and good luck.

Get it reviewed by as many of those you can reach who were under pain at the time.
Fact check, check, check, check, check.
And, please make it as funny as you can. Levity spurs the reader on.

I don’t recall signing a Model Release Form at any of the shoots 😎 😀

The original court threads as written by the fans from AVFTT are linked here...

Great archive from the old site there seasideone.
Those Court summaries were compulsive reading at the time and it was fascinating watching the whole case unfold.
