Advice, Travelling to Scotland with Overnight stay

Mrs Lime, has to pick up a new car, however the nearest we could find what she wanted was Glasgow!! They can't deliver. Mrs Lime needs the car for work.

So we intend to drive directly to a Premier Inn near the dealers, stay in our room, have a meal delivered to our room. In the morning drive to the dealers, pick up the car then drive immediately back to the Gold Coast in the morning?

Discuss? Advice??

Have tried to read the .gov website, but nothing seems to include or exclude our scenario
Bet you’re glad you asked 😩

My advice is, if you are going all that way, make a weekend of it. See some sights, have a few walks, oh... and it would be criminal not to go for a bevvie/outdoor meal if and when hospitality opens up again. A quick glance at the Premier Inn website shows they are taking bookings so you are good to go. Enjoy.

Would love to do that & under different circumstances we would, but we don't want to take any unnecessary risk above what we need to to get the vehicle, so as mentioned we will effectively be isolated until we get to the dealers, & they have Covid restrictions in place for handover, then straight back to the gold Coast, 😊

Have a safe trip.

As it’s classed as a business one you’ll be able to enjoy the delights of a service station and sit-in for a drink or food maskless, as the restrictions allow for this presuming that the virus knows you’ve had a tough drive up the M6 and it can identify you are working, hence why Boris and crew had that photo of them in the cafe in Cornwall enjoying the delights of hospitality.

Just take care navigating the one way system to the toilets and avoid the taped off urinals and sinks which maintain social distancing.

I’ve said it before on here that some people have lost their minds with all of this and normal thinking has vanished for some. This thread highlights it once more.

We won't need to stop? Got plenty of fuel & can hold a pee, so as mentioned, straightforward? There n back, only need to meet anyone at the garage, all socially distanced,

Tebay does a decent tea.

"If and when". Sadly not yet.

Don't get why you'd need a hotel overnight to go to Glasgow? Early start, 2.5 - 3 hours get car, have a bit of lunch, drive home. Done it dozens of times, and further than Glasgow too.
Its my wife, & she isnt used to that amount of driving, so rather than push her & risk a meltdown/Accident, the overnight seemed best, as we need to be at the dealers first thing, so can be back in time for the Blackpool game!! :)

I can confirm that as a follow up to my previous post, Tebay services are fully open including the BBQ shed that provided excellent food earlier to me and Mrs Lytham 👍

As your wife needs the car for work it’s clearly an acceptable business reason for travel. And with her being a NHS worker, I reckon you are bulletproof. But I would take an early train to Glasgow to avoid the overnighter rather than driving both ways.
Direct train at 05:35 from Preston gets into Glasgow at 08:22. And it’s cheap as chips. £11.60 pp one-way currently.
