And in true Fleetwood style she divorced her husband to marry her nephew. Supposedly worth around £250M. That's a lot of throat sweets. I may need to suck one today.

Maybe the council will do something for her now and build a atatue , if anyone deserves one its her.

Just read the BBC article, I never met her but from the stories I have heard and seeing the things she did for the town of Fleetwood and different charities she was an incredible woman.

I went to the Fleetwood Museum yesterday , there is an interesting section dedicated to the Lofthouses.
She had already donated a few million to Fleetwood before her death.

My wife's a Fleetwood girl. When Doreen died, she said "Wyre Borough Council will be gutted. That's the supplementary fund gone". I've never seen her so upset about the death of someone she didn't really know.

People know about the obvious things like the Eros statue, but not many know about all the footpath and railing replacements and massive project to renovate the Mount to former glory.

Also allocated thousands in her will for her cleaners, gardeners, etc to be shared equally between them. A life changing sum for those people and I’m sure there will be several mortgages getting paid off shortly thanks to Doreen.
