World class defender.
Definitely our best player and would easily fit in to any Premier League team.

Worth £15 million.
Yet another collosus performance from the super human.

Sad WBA wankers singing sack the board because they perceived themselves as a club far too large to only draw with Blackpool.

I hope they end bottom half this season.

He just keeps getting better and better, I'm not at all surprised to hear that "big" clubs are looking at him (anyone know who they are)
He's our most improved player, especially when you consider he's only been an EFL player for 3 seasons (?)
Key areas of business in January are to retain our players, and try to sign Wintle.

Ekpo and Keshi Anderson tonight were fantastic I thought. Both need contract extensions I think.
Marvin was a colossus tonight.

However I am glad you pointed out Keshi. I thought he was the most creative player on the pitch and fearless. Great little passes, running at pace and delivering crosses plus working back tirelessly and winning tackles.
I think he’s done this consistently now for 3 months and (maybe I am biased?) but I’ve not seen many opposition players strike panic in our defence like he has opposition teams.

Not bad for a Div 2 freebie

He's a brilliant player for us.

But I think people forget how good the prem is now, you have to be so good on the ball, occasionally Marv loses it and gets caught out. Did one tonight with a heavy touch.

His attributes are his big strength, strong, good in the air, reading of the game and the way he can use his long legs to pull the ball from nowhere.

I think he needs more championship seasons under his belt to continue his growth. He's stepped up the leagues so fast. For me a prem move is a step too far for now but I would say that.

I love big Marv and he's possibly my favourite player but can we stop all this world class nonsense.

£15m ?

Are you having a laugh ?

We can get Koko drive him to whoever offers that.

He’s happy where he is thanks - no need to live in a dreamy transfer world
His value is measured in a solo outstanding performance last night - if we could match that performance on our right wing we would be a very dangerous team

Cambers

I like Marv as a defender and he does it very well and is getting better and better and I have every confidence in him whilst defending.
Having said that his touch and passing aren't great and he makes me nervous on the ball.
Good defender but let's not get carried away, has a lot to improve on but the foundation is there.

World class, my @ss.

I would not want to see Marv leave for less than £10 million. If Maguire is worth £80 million Marv is a bargain at £10!

Agree with this and when you watch him closely week in week out he cannot pass the ball forward.. his distribution is woeful and that is his weak spot. The rest of his game (including a great finish at boro) is excellent and he was great in the air last night. He’s a great signing and the whole back four were terrific last night.

The way the club is now run is to develop players and sell them on, whilst we progress and reinvest the monies. Marv has started each of the last six seasons one league higher than the season before. I can see him starting next season in the Premier League.

It is easier to replace defenders than forwards if Marvin were to be sold for £15m
and that money were reinvested in bringing in 2 more goal scoring strikers it
could be a shrewd move.

At £10 an hour, he can work fir me feeding the mixer and whacker plating the ground

Sorry for not replying before now but I can only talk chite on one thread at a time and I've been doing that on the Bowler thread.

If you are paying £10 an hour, it's more than anybody would have got of Koko in the summer.

That's a great idea.

I can only envisage one slight problem, no fecker is willing to pay anywhere near £15m for him.

Great performance last night, needs to realise when to put his foot through it and launch it , instead of the suicide ball to team mates. Only my opinion !

No ‘big’ club is going to pay big money for a player with Marvins CV (thankfully for us). A team like Norwich, Burnley or maybe Watford might… but with the right contract offer I’d like to think we can keep hold of him. Very much reminds me of Danny Shittu albeit more refined ! But he could dominate Championship attackers for years to come as a mainstay of a very good Blackpool squad and even get his time in the Premier League too if we’re lucky. If I were him I’d see what Critch just did and want to sign for the long term too. A year on the bench at Burnley getting pumped most weeks in the Prem isn’t that appealing hopefully !!

occasionally we do piss around with it at the back a bit too much. theres a thing where the defeders are playing behind the keeper which gets me puckering up as im watching it. Keogh does(did) it a lot, hes always so deep when he has the ball that it invites pressure. we did it a few times last night but one of the problems last night was the strikers not holding the ball particularly well. there was a massive amount of turnover in midfield. they had it we had it they had it.

i think most championship sides and the majority of PL sides when they are playing out from the back are liable to make errors and get caught out even City and Liverpool have been known to be caught occasionally, but those two teams are porbably in a class of their own at the moment. We caught West brom four or five times last night and didnt capitalise on the opportunities, and neither did westbrom when they caught us.

we tend to get it right more often than wrong, with wintle and dougal in the middle recieving and pushing we usually have outlets. We're still adapting a little bit. Madine trying to give their defenders a physical presence to think about last night was in my opinion undermined by a ref who consistently penalised Madine, and Keshi and Lavery (and i realise not many agree with me on that) which i think emboldened their defensive players to push the physicality, in the early part of the season we would have backed off a bit but last night we just kept plugging away at them.

I've been searching for 'world class defenders for 15 million in the last 12 months' and couldn't find any.

VVD was 75 Million, the ear fingerer cost united x 3 80 million.

WE SHOULD BE ASKING FOR 100 MILLION FOR OUR MARV!

I wouldn’t say 2new strikers, just the one.
At the moment, that one for me is Simms for Madine. Yes, yes, Madine drew a class save from Johnstone but that was about it. Plus, Jerry was more effective alongside Simms.
Or maybe this debate should have its own thread.

He also took a lot of hard tackles last night from a defence that were desperate to stop him

Big Marv has really come on leaps and bounds (excuse the pun!) and maybe the added responsibility of the captaincy has something to do with that. He definitely deserves a contract extension with a huge buy out clause.
