Most goals you've seen in a game of football?

10.0 Blackpool v Lanerossi Vicenza in Anglo-Italian Cup ronaway back in 1972. Won the final in Italy 3.1 against AS Roma in front of 75,000!
Can't remember if that was the match Suddick scored an incredible goal.
No that was home to Verona the wonder goal. Shame it was never captured on film.Pool won the 1971 final 2-1 v Bologna and lost the 1972 final 3-1 to Roma.

In a LG game Blackpool 5 Brentford 4 when we had a dodgy keep called McCallister. Also recall beating Brighton 6-2 at home. 5-3 v Charlton 2007/8.

Yep, we beat Brentford 5-4 in Division 3 in October 1979. Gate was just over 5k sadly.
It remains the highest scoring game I've seen at any ground.
I can remember in his pre match interview, Stan Ternent said he was setting up defensively after we'd conceded a few in recent games. Didn't quite work out that way, but it was an entertaining game. Derek Spence played well as I recall. I was in the South Paddock.

Blackpool 7 Halifax 1

(One of Blackpool's goals wasn't a goal, Simonites shot hit the stanchion and bounced back. Ref looked at lino, lino looked at ref, ref points to the centre spot. Goal😆)
Same one for me!

I was at the Brentford 5-4.. weird game where every attack seemed likely to end with a goal…! Other than that, our 1-7 defeat to Birmingham at St Andrews stands out… for all the wrong reasons! Lol

I was in the South chatting with some Brentford fans (6/7) who I think were looking for it. Got on Ok with them until Central Drive and one told a copper that I'd pulled a knife....down the backstreet I was taken and searched. I could see the lad laughing his head off- I can still remember waht he looked like and was wearing.

Was at this match, think Halifax took the lead. The 5-4 Brentford match we had about 7 defenders in the line up.

Am I remembering this correctly, didn’t the Lanerossi goalkeeper storm off in a huff during the game because he’d had enough….or was he being subbed?
Only one sub allowed in those days. Could be either reason or injury but I think he had let in 7 by then. Surely bring on a forward if you are 7 down⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽

Fleetwood 12 Stantondale 0 on the Saturday followed by Blackpool 1 v York City 1 with 22 penalties in the auto windscreen shield on the tuesday.

My old man always talks about this incident! Brilliant.

I thought that goal was Brockbank against York on a very windy night.
Yeh I might have to get my old programmes out to check this, I was in the west paddock for the 7-1 win over Halifax, wasn’t King Billy in the Halifax line-up that night? I was in the South Stand for the goal/non-goal, definitely a different game, great view of it, think it was a 3-1 win over York.

Seem to remember mid-week cup fixture against Aldershot some moons ago, ended 5-3 IIRC? Probably the most I've seen to be fair.

Remember aldershot being 5-1 I think - Rodwell hat trick. Result wiped after they went bust.

Swindon was 2-6

Pretty much any game where I featured in the back four will be a contender.

But if we're talking professional, I'm aware of the Brentford 5-4, but it was the season before I was going. But didn't we also do Aldershot by the same score in Div 4? Which I would have been at.

After that, I should have been at Maine Road the day City beat Huddersfield 10-0, or was it 10-1 even? But I woke up with the mother of all hangovers and wasn't fit to get out of bed let alone drive, so my City supporting friends went on the train without me. Exactly the same story happened when they beat Utd 5-1. When I think back to some of the dross I watched them play in the 80s and missed the two best ones!

What about the one that went to pens and went through every player. Only finished when their keeper stepped up, thought he was taking a goal kick and almost cleared the stand never mind the crossbar.

Seen a few 5-3's etc and the 7-1

6-3 at Swansea is the highest for me

Think I was also at the 5-4 in 1979 but memories fade

Not the most but the 1-6 defeat by Bournemouth Dec 2014 was my last game until Accy away in March 2019 just before the Homecoming game.🤬🤬

Can’t believe there's been no mention of the 7 goals shipped at Barnet when there was at least 29,500 of us there that night!🤭🤭

I also thought it was Andy Brockbank (Brocklebank?) but that it was the Halifax game, not York. Stand to be corrected though.

We were in the Scratchers and even from there (opposite side of the pitch) we immediately said it hit the side stanchion. But weirdly the ref and lino signalled goal.

Edit to add: my highest was the 5-4 game with Brentford like many others above.

I remember the Ango Italian Cup victories but an even more memorable high scoring Pool game was the 6 - 0 home victory over Newcastle United late 60s in, I think, our only home win in that relegation year. Our future king played for the opposition.
