Kirk signing?

Kirk would be nothing more than a squad player for me I’d like to think we had 3 better wide options if he was in the squad.

Well one hour ago on his instagram he was in Marbella so not done any pre-season by the look of it!

The door was always open to sign him, the club just made clear they didn't value him at the 500k that was agreed.

They want the best deal for the club.

I'd rather have a player who can use their skill or pace to take players on and also get to the byline occasionally, as well as chip in with a couple of goals like we already have, not Kirk.

Obviously BS Twitter account but Kirk was a Quitchley signing, I’m pretty sure he was a cheap option in Jan after we knew we couldn’t get Brannigan over the line.

With Quitchley gone there’s no way we’re going back in for him and dropping 500k.

Notice he's still being mentioned in despatches.

I don't believe these Twatter accounts, but I'll comment anyway, I'd put Kirk along with Dale in the fact I've not seen enough to really make a call on either, there've been flashes of something but that's it. Some players you can tell straight away what they're about, whereas others take time to get up to speed. Not forgetting the ones who set off well & just fizzle out after a couple of games.

I don’t think we saw enough of him to form a strong opinion, jury still out. He has got some good attributes and looked excellent for Crewe, will be a good signing for someone but I doubt it will be us.

Agree, many players need a consistent run of games to really show what they can do. Kirk certainly contributed and didn’t look out of his depth, but not sure we know exactly how good he is/isn’t based on chopping and changing in and out of our team.

Only based on 2-3 sightings, but personally I thought he was a tidy player, comfortable on the ball, good vision for a pass, and good delivery as stated.

One has to be clear about what one considers a winger though. If you're after a pacy dribbler in the JB mould then Charlie's not your man. But I think he could do a job in a possession based attacking midfield. Whether that can be with us is another question altogether with Fiorini/Carey appearing set to be the regular partnership

I actually rated Kirk. He was tireless, chased down plenty of lost causes, had a great cross on him and was good from set pieces. Didn’t see him attempt to beat his man on many occasions but I’m not sure that was his instruction - Bowler was the man we looked to in order to drive forward with the ball. Kirk does obviously have it in his locker and proved as much at Crewe. Could be very useful when playing alongside a LWB who likes to get VERY high up the pitch which Thompson clearly does.
