Training ground update

It depends on the voltage of the power lines, but when I last checked you’re likely to suffer more exposure by sitting in a room with a TV than standing directly under all but the super high voltage overhead power lines.
If that is the case then all good, but not what the articles say.

It's also about the closest points and small time spent there, so may be miniscule risk.

Anyway, I won't be there so not that bothered, just wanted to see if its been considered an issue.

I walk, albeit fleetingly, under power lines all the time and as you can see, hasn't done me any harm.

I’ve stood underneath and recorded the electromagnetic impact.

Like I said… There’s a world of difference between the EHV power lines (the ones that audibly buzz when you stand underneath them) and the lower voltage local distribution lines.

I’m not sure what the ones on the training ground are 👍

Fuck me is there nothing left in the world, can we not just enjoy the thought of a new training ground without the usual bollox of doom mongers putting a damper on absolutely everything. Pylons are ** everywhere, get over it. I honestly don’t know how some people set foot out of the front door these days.
I only leave home if fully enrobed in bubble wrap and a helmet……

Look the same as the EHV big pylons and go back far. Probably linked to ones I've walked under and they buzz.

"The EMFs that come from high-voltage power lines are a lot stronger than those around household appliances. Household appliances usually produce fields measuring between 0.01 to 0.02 microteslas (µT). If you stood directly underneath the highest voltage power lines though, you could receive a maximum of 100µT. That is 10 000 times as much.

This amount quickly decreases as you move away from high voltage lines. For example, at 25 m away from the most powerful line you would receive about 1-2µT. This is still ten to 20 times more exposure than you would get inside the average home in North America."

Apart from fleeting passings by, the closest points for pitches will probably be 30m or more away.

Can’t say I’d have ever even considered the power lines an issue - aside from being a potential obstruction to the development but you would also imagine that should there be any safety issues then any planning application would have to meet relevant safety criteria etc and therefore that would have been considered at the point of identifying the appropriate site. The club won’t be coming up with these plans on the fly and will be working with experts and professionals and therefore maybe more credit needs to be given to the club.

I don’t know what the theory is… you can obviously take readings with a gauss meter, which is what I did with the overhead lines that run near us.

In that case the meter recorded a higher reading within a couple of meters to my TV than stood directly below the power lines.

That said, I suspect they may be 33 KV (local distribution) cables.

It might be the same lines as these seem to go to peel area aka Blackpool south..

I’d have to have a look at the pylons and power lines.

The 400KV or 132KV ones are massive like the ones in the pictures. The local network can still be on metal pylons, but with less of the ceramic insulators.B20767AD-4B07-43D0-849D-49DA17742869.jpegA3C15E24-D597-4E06-8A07-1D6380DE75B4.jpeg

Went to the Public Consultation yesterday. It was pretty quiet but the people there were friendly & helpful. 👍

Here’s a few updates:

- BFC hope to have the new TG open in 3 years - pre-season 2025/26 period.

- The 2 planning applications will go in at the same time. 1) The main one for Wyre and the 2) Blackpool border / site access & public road.

- Solar panels on south facing roof. They want the Academy building to be carbon neutral. (Floodlights not included.)

- I made a few suggestions to make the build more visually appealing - club colours / link to seaside, etc. The reason given for the brown colour scheme was to blend in with the landscape, particularly the trees which will remain on site. Pointed out this green belt site isn’t classified as an area of natural beauty, so there is a bit more flexibility.

- See picture below. 1st Team will use the two pitches below the academy in the illustration. Goalkeeper training area GK next to them.

- The ‘Show Pitch’ will be academy team matches. They expect the public will have a viewing area around perimeter.

- They don’t really expect the 1st team to use the half-size indoor pitch, although I’m sure that view will change in winter. I suggested a 3/4 sized pitch aligned differently.

- The paths you see next to the 1st team pitches will be for the players’ use. The public right of way is another route and will need to be moved slightly.

- Made some comments about site security and public liability (given the ponds and pylons). Currently there are no plans for security, beyond the perimeter fence. Will be looked at as & when required. Tbh this should be covered in initial planning application.

- No current intention to have cafe / restaurant, or open to public (beyond parents of academy youth teams). Kitchen for the players. I made a few suggestions for future proofing the design in case this changes down the line. Equally, the car parks and roads on site have been kept to a minimum to again reduce the impact on environment. Pointed out scope / area for enlargement of parking area, if needed.

- No intention to have on site road linking to Garstang Rd.

- Consideration given to noise and floodlight position for local residents.

- Section on right of illustration (outlined in blue) will be a re wilding area only.

I intend to raise a few points online before 05/08/22, via the link below:

Consultation will run until August 5 and people can also view the plans and give feedback at: www.blackpoolfcconsultation.co.uk

Or they can call a dedicated community information line (Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.30pm) on 0800 652 9460, or email feedback and questions to blackpoolfcconsultation@havingyoursay.co.uk

Good update this - thanks.
The rewilding area is interesting. By the time this comes to be delivered biodiversity net gain will be a much more prominent part of planning requirements for major developments.

As for the push for use of more glass and the proximity of power lines - has anyone seen our shooting lately? 😬

There will be widespread power outages when Garbutt practices his free kicks 😆

You're in luck, just remembered the video someone did.

Looks like the big ones to me, but I'm not pylon expert.

Looks like we have the perfect sponsor already.

I think they just sell energy... And yes, they are the bigger National Transmission lines
