22 Years since we lost King Billy

Funny you say that Robbie as I'm never sure about the word and have asked about it umpteen times before. Before you say it, my continual use of the word and request for spelling obviously confirms my pedantry !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    James McLean

Did we ever decide why this fine gentleman was so misunderstood and manage to rid the club of a terrible sectarian problem that BST spoke of ? James McLean

22 Years since we lost King Billy

Marko That might be the great mans record in the basement division or something different but we certainly got beat far more than once at home under King Billy in the 92/93 and 93/94 seasons ?????????????????????????

22 Years since we lost King Billy

Edibles Please excuse my pedanticity on a nice post for a great man but I do think that keeping us up in 92/93 and 93/94 were greater achievements than the promotion. RIP King Billy God Bless

    Cole Palmer...

Firstly, given the format of major tournaments it is inevitable that they are not always won by the best side in the competition. Major tournaments can be won by teams with a very expansive style (Brazil 1970 WC, I think most would say the most attacking side in the comp) or by a very organised...

    Cole Palmer...

The best attacking sides can and do win tournaments but I'd say that if they don't then that can only be a good thing for England. Of all the sides with a realistic chance of winning the Euros, I wouldn't put England down as one of the more attacking ? I'm not saying that their attacking...

    Wrexham wage bill

I'm not comparing Salford to Wrexham Phil but I'm fairly sure that the aim of Project Salford is/was not to just stay in League Two. AVFTT Caveat to others not Phil - Yes, they still might end up winning the Champions League but I'm sure the plan wasn't to spend years in League Two before going...

    Wrexham wage bill

Again, I'm not so sure Phil and I think you are overplaying the whole half a country, sleeping giant thing. I think plenty of the other clubs struggling in the lower leagues have greater potential than Wrexham but certainly nothing against them and we'll see how it all pans out.

    Wrexham wage bill

I've got nothing against Wrexham Phil but I'm not sure that they'll get to the Prem, we shall see. Probably more be more exciting trying to get there and failing than trying to stay in League One every season.

    Wrexham wage bill

I wouldn't say Robbie is out of touch with modern football Phil, he just has different views from yourself on certain matters. I'd say that he is just much more risk averse than the likes of me and you and neither of us are playing with our own money. I have no problem with superstars - or...

    Wrexham wage bill

Good point MAC. I am appalled by the continual casual xenophobia of some of the posters on this forum. I can't understand why the moderator accepts it ?

    Wrexham wage bill

Why not ? It's perfectly possible that most players would just go to the club offering the most without considering the training facilities as you appear to be suggesting ? AND for a player to be offered identical financial terms at club A and club B and accept the offer from the club with...

    Wrexham wage bill

I know there is probably a chasm between Wrexham heading for a disaster and the North Wales giants heading for success but I'm in the middle. Do Wrexham really have that much more potential than some of the other clubs currently languishing in the lower leagues ? Is there really anything wrong...

    Wrexham wage bill

Not questioning their achievements and/or abilities but you do realise that BST is a clique and not a group of qualified accountants and financial analysts. Most of the stuff that used to be published in the Gazette from BST were just the personal views of one person within the trust.

How times change Wiz. Did you wait for happy hour or just part with a tenner ?

I'm with Roberto here, I hate to see the participating teams supporters missing out.

If the squad isn't any good...

I'd say that you are probably about right Straighters and my original post should have said that clearly the current squad is capable of competing at the top end of League One and not the Championship as I said.

Is it now a game of poker between SS and fans?

Straighters You make good points there. Lower than 6th has to be failure and I'm sure that some might say that failing to get promoted is failure as that was surely the goal at the start of the season and performance pay would surely be geared around that ? As you suggest there are very fine...

If the squad isn't any good...

I guess it is important to know exactly what you consider to be "good" Straighters ? I'm sure that the squad is "good" in that they would win the Sunday Alliance Premier Division without breaking sweat. I'm also sure that the squad would not be "good" in the Premier League. Clearly the...

    Will we keep Grimmy?

Not a criticism but surely all our players would want out if they received a better offer ? They've all got a better chance of getting better offers if they are better for us while they are here.
