    Youth coming through

Wigan’s centre back Charlie Hughes ran the show from defence on Saturday, a proper footballing centre half and only 20 years old. If we had him we’d have him on loan at Chorley or Southport to help aid his “development”…

    The definition of insanity

I was wanting us to bring him on early to give us an outlet with the ball. Keep the width and give him it. Then we brought him on and I remembered why he was sub. However in his defence, in a front 3 he’s going to struggle as he’ll have his back to goal too much which will expose his touch. I...

    The definition of insanity

You might not believe it but 1st half I said to my mate that I wouldn’t mind Mike Davies hitting a chipped floater down the line to turn their defence instead of that sidewards and backwards shite and watching Beesley getting brushed off the ball like a small child. Gabriel did it shortly...

This cautiousness is obviously coached in

It’s 100% tactical and coached as every player we pick does the same thing. Early season when we had 3 in the middle, they all struggled, Carey, Morgan and Weir all did the same thing… he even tried Oakley-Boothe who managed to do it worse. Dembele coming into the team switched it to a two and...

This cautiousness is obviously coached in

Good point re: Coventry. Could you ever imagine us under this Head Coach conceding a goal on 87 minutes to go 2-1 down and coming back to score two before the end of the game. If we conceded we’d have no doubts have took off most our attacking threats and just curl up and crumble.

This isn’t a new Neil Critchley thing (long post)

Agree with this 💯 and also think it’s stifling players in game.

This isn’t a new Neil Critchley thing (long post)

This was a classic Neil Critchley away team performance. The kind we’ve seen before, even in his successful spell 1st time with us in the Championship v Birmingham, Derby, Preston etc. & all too familiar this season. Concede a goal, wait till 70 minutes, make like for like subs, dare to change...

He had a bit about him as well, which we don’t seem to want to sign or have.

Sometimes the fans DO know best

Wouldn’t be hard would it 😂 it was utter dogshit 1st half. What about the other away games? Think we’ve come back to win twice all season and to draw twice? Lost 13? Subs are always reactive not pro-active. The above isn’t wanting the manager out just simple stuff.

Sometimes the fans DO know best

If the players aren’t “on it” it’s the Head Coach’s job and his Assistants job to change the game. Identify, implement and pro-actively ensure the players are then “on it”. If they aren’t “on it” for say 9 away games, where you don’t score a goal then it’s their job to identify and sort this...

Do the players know we’re trying to get in the play-offs?

That was a bad a centre forwards performance as you’ll get. Miles off it.

    Trust The Process

I don’t see a plan in games tbh. We’re playing 3-4-3, which means we only have two in central midfield. Today it was quite eye opening how they ran and played through us centrally, I don’t think we ever do it, the central midfielders are both very much sidewards and backwards or Dembele’s feet...

Do the players know we’re trying to get in the play-offs?

I can only think we thought moving Beesley off the centre halves who won every headed against him 1st half and to get him play on another defender to try and bring success with our high punts forward..

Do the players know we’re trying to get in the play-offs?

Yep that and Dembele’s two free-kicks 1st half, one that was a cross he just didn’t tell anyone and the other from a worse angle ballooned over. Wasted. I’m going to cut Norburn and Byers some slack that when they do get the ball there are only two options ahead of them, every other player is...
