    The Super Casino

I was told that the Blackpool delegation that presented the case for the town was insanely over confident and came across as though they believed it was theirs by right. All broad brush and no detail. It was ours to lose....and we did.

    Boycott Bolton game

THE most stupid post in the forum's history - and that's a high bar.

    East stand

Sorry but I have to disagree with the opening post. We don't need a ground larger than 17000. Our attendances show this. Even in our glory years of the 1950s we weren't that well supported. The year we won the cup our average was 25,800. That was when football had a virtual monopoly, no TV games...

    Who was at this one?

Yes - he scored at the kop end - I think it got a deflection.

The result might not have been the greatest but it's not everyday we take 8,000 for an away game...

    18 September 1948 Bolton Wanderers 2 Blackpool 2

These reports are superb. The quality of the journalism complete with a bespoke cartoonist. Thank you for posting them - what an archive to draw upon! Who'd have thought we were taking 5-6k away from home in 1948! Rationing was still in place! Keep 'em coming - please.

Best goal you've seen AGAINST Blackpool

It was a stunner! Bamber's in the same game was under rated - an acute angle, cool finish.

Best goal you've seen AGAINST Blackpool

My memory is playing up I thought he scored a penalty at the south to win it...or did they beat us two years in a row? Him scoring both times? I'm sure you are right. The mists of time are catching up with us.

Best goal you've seen AGAINST Blackpool

Obscure game, but Tony Grealish scored an absolute beauty for Rotherham against us in the Leyland Daf in the 80s. Richard Cooke for Bournemouth when Harry Redknapp was manager.

Games you’ll simply never get over

Man City - FA cup late equaliser for them. Sherpa Van Northern Final - knocked out by Bolton. Preston away - Boxing Day '87. 1 nil up with 10 mins to go. Lost 2-1. Gillingham at home late 80s. We were 3 up with 10 mins to go. Drew 3-3. We've list bigger more important games since then. But I...

Multi Coloured Swap Shop - Blackpool 1977

1977 Swap Shop in Blackpool. If you went you might spot yourself in the crowd by North Pier with Cheggars. The entire episode is on You Tube and is interesting as a piece of history in itself. Swap Shop in Blackpool

    Comeback Holloway all is forgiven

He would snatch our hand off to be involved again. Really. Wouldn't be the worst stop gap and wouldn't cost the earth. We are aiming for safety - nothing more. He would we willing. Anyone in the game would confirm this.

Your 'why did I bother' game

Crewe away - we lost 2-0 agsinst 10 men! One of Crewes goals was absolutely unique - the ball hit the inside of the post and the liner flagged for a goal. Ref gave it. No one in the away end could believe it and I've never seen anything like it before or since. Not the crossbar with the ball...

Early 70s clip of the town of Blackpool

Blackpool early 70s I came across the above clip on You Tube. Didn't realise how many buried memories I had until I saw the clip! Not a stag or hen do in sight! Families everywhere! So much activity on the beach. Deckchairs! It's such a shame that so many people who live in the town today never...

Walk on the wild side video

Some of the comments are a bit harsh. His videos do promote the town and he does show all sides of the town - good and bad. I did think some of his comments were a bit cringworthy though eg. 'It's kicking off!' Comments regarding his looks are worthy of the playground.

Sundays breaking news…Jerry being tipped for Rangers

There is a world of difference between the situation with Jerry and what happened with Josh. Jerry is effectively under contract until Summer 25. If he goes, he goes when we choose. We can succession plan. With Josh the clock was ticking and we were faced with him walking away for nothing. Jerry...

    Raikes Hall Gardens

Although the council have a lot to answer for - don't get me started on Derby Baths....You can't blame them for Raikes Hall's demolition. The truth is that visitor numbers dipped hugely and it wasn't paying its way. With the three piers, Tower complex, Palace ballroom, several theatres, multiple...
