I have transcribed the only two reports I can find of Final Tie of the first Fylde Cup in 1887 - Blackpool v Lytham.
Unfortunately it’s not clear whether Hargreaves actually scored. He is mentioned for making a clearance though!
i have transcribed a copy of the report of the presentation of this and other medals which took place at the Wellington Hotel (Blackpool Gazette and Herald - 27 January 1888). It is quite long and describes the whole evening in much detail as reports in newspapers did in those days.
What a wonderful gesture this is. The students should be so grateful to Mr Sadler in future years. Let’s wish them an amazing start in life and successful careers.
Can you put me down for another category -
Supporter who would like to go but can’t.
I will be listening in when able and checking AVFTT.
I know the date of the final but it’s not in my diary yet!
Who remembers the nursery rhyme?
There once was a man called Michael Finnegan
He had whiskers on his chin-egan
Up came the wind and blew them in again
Poor old Michael Finnegan, begin again
