£1m for Bowler

He is on Div 1 wages 1 m is probably right for the wages he is on .
Sell now or he goes for free next June same with a number of your players.
To be honest, I think he's worth more to us in the team for a season and going for a free than £1m now.

On his day (which is more often than not) he'd walk into most team pushing for promotion and that should be our ambition with him.

I have it on oretty good authority we were offered more like 3 million right at the end of Jan window and our “ambitious board” decided to reject it. 🧡

Bournemouth know what we all know. Josh is mercurial….on his day, but sadly they are few and far between. He was stop- start up until the end of January, then he hit a purple patch through February, with dazzling displays….and goals ! Then the lights went out again. They will think he’s wonderful when on song, but anonymous in most of the games ; hence the low bid. If he’s on fire this August, there will be a bidding war, and the price could be anything. If he’s dull, there will be little interest.
A better manager would've instilled a greater degree of consistency to his performances. Same for the rest of the team. I don't like how we went on and off the boil last season and am glad Critch left in the end.

We’d be due a tribunal fee. Likely a decent fee given if he wants a good move and a good contract he’ll need to play well all season. Would we get a similar player on similar wages ? No. Is he likely gonna get 10 goals and assists this season. Yes. That sort of return in the season could be the difference between relegation and survival in a poor team or playoffs and mid table in a decent team. Either way it’s worth a hell of a lot of money.

Nope, regulation 70:

70.1 A Player aged 24 years or over as at 30 June is entitled (subject to Regulation 43 to sign for any Club of his choice without restriction on the expiry of his contract on or after that date without payment of any Compensation Fee.

He turns 24 in March next year, he'll be entitled to move on a free.

I thought he was still 22 not 23 but in that case yeah, we won’t get a penny.

Still £1million is not going to get him. He signed a contract as a bit of an unknown entity therefore he’ll be on much much less than a player of his quality at this level. To replace him with a half decent winger would likely cost £500-750k and then their wages won’t be much (if at all) lower than Bowlers. A good loan could still cost a lot of money too if the player brought in is on Premier League or even decent Championship wages so selling Bowler still needs to be worth our while or else losing him on a free is a risk worth taking.
The lad would still need to play well all season to secure the best possible contract elsewhere and an on form Josh Bowler over the course of a season could make a hell of a difference to our prospects. 10 Goals and 10 Assists could be worth at least £4/5 million if it avoids relegation or even £150 million if it takes us to the promised land

To be honest, I wasn't 100% sure on the rules myself, an under-21 player is determined by his age on 1 January, but for an over-24 player 30 June is the relevant date, a bit of inconsistency there.

Not sure that’s true. I think Turton had signed one with Hudds before he signed.

Can Premier League players agree a pre-contract with another English club?

The six-month rule when it comes to discussions regarding a future change of scenery relates to teams outside of the country in which the player plies their trade at that time.

Premier League players can, therefore, only enter into talks with interested parties outside of England – with the same regulations applying to those in Germany, Spain, Italy etc.

Any player looking to move from one English team to another as a free agent can only open talks after entering the final month of their previous contract – with that effectively delaying discussions until any given season has come to a close.

That is because domestic transfers are regulated by individual football associations, rather than world governing body FIFA.

The FA in England is eager to ensure that there is no conflict of interest between clubs working under its remit, with mid-season, inter-competition free agent agreements banned as a result.

Fair enough if not officially then his agent will be talking to clubs all next season to get him sorted.

Can I ask an honest question - if you were a PL Manager, bearing in mind the pressure now to stay in that league, would you blow £1 million on a player who really only proved himself in a quarter of the season?
