£500 to self isolate..

For two weeks so less than minimum wage but its better than nowt.
Haven't an issue with the scheme we need to get people back to work and off furlough.

If they're on low pay, this will be over and above any universal credit they might have.

Well in other news there’s been no COVID-19 deaths on the Fylde coast for 14 days.

I take the view that if the Government is preventing you from earning a living (either as a business owner or employee) then it’s incumbent on them to provide financial support.

That’s the moral argument. But it also makes sense from a practical point of view. You’re not going to be able to self isolate if you have to feed your family/pay your bills etc.

Are you one of the Avftt experts then ?
Absolutely not. I have no scientific experience here. The theory is this will lead to mass hospitalisation and deaths due to the increases.
I have to say I have a healthy scepticism about this. I wouldn’t go as far as denying it as clearly Covid kills but I think we are in a better place medically than 6 months ago with treatments and wonder also about the virus load theory too.
At a guess I would expect a much lesser impact on admissions and deaths as a % of infections this time around but only the next 4-6 weeks will prove this.
There you go that’s my non expertise guess.

I don’t know how any of you can be certain either way without the benefit of the hindsight we will have in 2 months time?
