‘Offer now in’ for Gabriel

Sounds like he has featured in all of their pre season fixtures and is their only right back at present. Unless they bring someone in, I can't see them wanting to sell.

Also says in the press that Huddersfield are on for him too

Turton must be sick of the sight of him, although, he did up his game with competition

Not convinced at all that we can’t do better than hanging on and hoping for this one. We’ve got five loan spaces left. If a loan for JG was good enough last year, why not take advantage of our higher status to get a better loanee this year? One who might actually be with us for the start of the season so we don’t have to use someone out of position? Why did we go for Keogh instead of pushing for the experienced Jack Hunt in a position of need?

I think Nixon is wrong regarding the length of Embleton’s contract, I thought Sunderland triggered the one year extension before he came on loan, so it will expire in January not summer. So his transfer value should be less.

His extension runs to next June

Is Simms not injured until around Christmas time?

If so all this speculation is pointless...

People are so blinkered any way....both Gabriel and Simms did ok. Simms improved with more games.
Embleton was just about ok.

Why are people so stuck on these 3...?
Sunderland loaned Embleton to a team in the same division so that lets you know what they thought of him, in reality.
Simms is what, 23? Hardly been near Everyone's 1st team and Gabriel I'm not too sure about but was he or has he ever been a regular 1st team squad member at Forrest.....
Take yer blinkers off, there's a world of players out there without clubs, who are quality.

Why oh why are we continually linked with these people? He’s well past his best now though I thought he was pretty good early on, once he went he’s tried, but I don’t ever think he will recapture the brilliance of those early years culminating in the majestic Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (not the one in Fleetwood), I’ll get me coat…

Well, I know what I like.....

Simms is 20.

Your rant is a bit misguided. We seem to be interested in signing these three players, so it's not about blinkers. It's who we are actually trying to sign. Bringing in players who have fitted in already is not a daft idea. Simms would be a great signing. Daft to think otherwise.

Agreed. Last season we signed loads of players I'd never heard of and in the main, they were great. This board was obsessing over signing former players, much as we are now.

But we're actually targetting Embleton and Gabriel. I get sick of the clamouring for loan players. KDH and Nya Kirby 🙄 But these are players the team is targetting, not just players we've heard of.

I am sure there will be one or two surprises in the remaining players that we will sign or loan. I think Nixon is right that we are short on some qualty and need 3 or 4 players to 'make' our season

As far as I'm aware every single players at every club contract expires at the end of June. So if he signed in January it would be a 6/18/30 month etc contract.

He signed a two year in 2019 after his Grimsby loan, which took him up to 30/6/21. A +1 wasn't mentioned at the time but when he came here their sporting director confirmed there was and they'd taken it up. So have always gone with that.

Either way he's a Sunderland player up to 30/6/22 now so they have some control over what happens next, but not all of it like they would with anything longer that would need buying out first.

To me he essentially fills the same role for them as Aiden McGeady, but AM is the better player. I'd rather have him instead for the championship tbh. But if they need to free up money and a squad place for other positions it's about picking the right moment if our club is set on him. If we think we can get a deal and turn it into a profit..
My point was more a general one in that ALL players contracts expire on 30 June of whatever year. Southshore was under the impression that contracts could expire in January.

There are loads of better players out there.
Who'd heard of Charlie Adam, David Vaughan, Ian Evatt, or Wes Hoolahan...take your blinkers off and stop being obsessed with the little bit of knowledge you have.

I'd heard of the first three, they were all known names at the time and the moves pointed towards better possibilities because of Belokon's investment. Wes I'd no idea about, club were tipped off I think. Was it through Paul Tierney who also came in from Livingston?

Again though we know all this but it looks like something that you would be better off aiming at the people at the football club. If it's true that they're actively chasing these ex loans to try to turn them permanent.

Would be a very decent signing but I can't see Forest letting him go, I also think he'd prefer to stay at Forest as long as he has a shot of being in and around their first team (which appears to be the case right now). Think Embleton is more likely.

Good to hear that we're trying though.

That's the point, is it true?
None of the players signed so far would have been on anyone but the clubs recruitment teams radar, would they?
All these ITK posters posting the same chite for weeks on end.
I wish they'd just change their tune a little.
