‘Offer now in’ for Gabriel

There are loads of better players out there.
Who'd heard of Charlie Adam, David Vaughan, Ian Evatt, or Wes Hoolahan...take your blinkers off and stop being obsessed with the little bit of knowledge you have.
Are you saying getting Simms on a year long loan and buying Gabriel outright would be bad business?
Having said that I agree with most of what you say

Isn't Simms injured and out until Christmas? If so then he needs to be disregarded until he's 100% fit and match ready.
As for Gabriel, he was ok in league one but this is a level higher were talking about.
I just think we need better players than last season and I think there are better than Gabriel and Embleton out there.
Some supporters love to look backwards with rose tinted specs on.
Embleton is a forward/midfielder but only scored one goal...
I like to look forward to see what we could be and how we could improve rather than consolidate which is exactly what these signings (Simms apart) would be.
I don't claim to be an expert but if we keep signing 'one for the future's type players and forget about 'today' we'll struggle in the Championship.

Think Embleton scored 2
If price is right (cheap) then OK signing same with Gabriel.
If the chance to buy Simms came up, I would buy him carrying an injury again at right price.
I think all 3 fit into Critchley's way of playing Simms was also forming a great partnership with Yates..
Still let's see what happens maybe we will just end up with KDH and Ronan

Gabrial has pace and is still young in my opinion he would be a great addition. He got better last season the more he played.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Critchley and the recruitment team believe Gabriel or any player is the right fit and can improve our team, then they'll do for me. JG has bags of potential and a fantastic attitude, he would be an asset both now and in resale terms.

I'm not clamouring for us to re-sign players, I hope we do sign players so far unmentioned that take the Championship by storm. I would love us to sign Simms, when he is fit. I'd be happy if we signed Embleton or Gabriel, but wouldn't be gutted if we didn't. I don't think people are obsessing, Critch has indicated he wants those 3 back so it's natural to discuss it. It's also natural for the club to be keen to bring back players who fitted in last season. But we would all also like some out of the blue signings like KDH too. We don't all have one track minds.

I like Gabriel and Embleton happy if they both come back to the club i think the issue is the figures mentioned for us to buy them i think we only have a modest budget for the league were in and the suggestion is some of that money would be better spent on a player that is more likely to have a big impact for us.

Would like to see Simms and Gabriel back. Can’t see KDH Being available he’ll possibly be integrated into their first team squad this season, but he’s the type of player we need, hopefully a quality loan will come in, in that position.

And from the Sunderland forum on Embleton.

Someone has replied:

Source mate? I tend not to believe a word you say being a bullshitter and a bully.

And: "Where's this come from? ....

"The voices in the OPs head.

And: "OP is an absolutely massive shitehawk BTW. Does this all the time and is never right.

And: "Blackpool fans said he was very inconsistent."

"The Blackpool fans probably didn't even realise that he played out of position the whole time there. Critchley said he did the job that was asked of him extremely well the thrust of which was retaining the ball in that attacking third, praised his attitude, talent and technical ability. Critchley was head coach of Liverpool so I am guessing he knows what he's talking about, certainly appears keen to sign him if all these rumours have any truth to them.

Just put the thread up for anyone interested really.
You can't read to much into a post on a forum.
The thread goes on for ever and I think it's fair to say that most seem to like Embo now and want him to stay.
I liked the comment, dripping in irony no doubt..
'Not much we can do when Blackpool come calling'

Sunderland aren't even getting top 6. Dogshit squad absolutely awful.

Their only decent ish player (Don't rate Wyke at all) has gone. They have the worst recruitment policy ever

Up there with the MOST delusional fans English football has ever seen.

Not entirely sure we’ve exhausted all the options we should have in this position …
Does make you wonder the fact that we let Turton go, who was on the 'replacement list' and who we're still talking to and who has been ruled out?

If the quoted 300k is true we need to get the deal done ASAP. He's by no means the finished article but he's got all the attributes to be a top player, he always gave 100% and seemed a very popular member of the squad, if we can sign him for that price we would be mad to pass up the opportunity.

Is Simms not injured until around Christmas time?

If so all this speculation is pointless...

People are so blinkered any way....both Gabriel and Simms did ok. Simms improved with more games.
Embleton was just about ok.

Why are people so stuck on these 3...?
Sunderland loaned Embleton to a team in the same division so that lets you know what they thought of him, in reality.
Simms is what, 23? Hardly been near Everyone's 1st team and Gabriel I'm not too sure about but was he or has he ever been a regular 1st team squad member at Forrest.....
Take yer blinkers off, there's a world of players out there without clubs, who are quality.
Simms is 20.

Maybe worth slightly more than 300k but not much more at the moment
Has potential but only if managed by Critch

I'm not sure he's ready for defending in the Championship? He was work in progress in League One. Definite potential but not a regular starter yet.

Speaking to a Forest fan, he thinks they are putting a big bid together for a right back from another championship club. This could make us signing him realistic and if we can get him for 300k or just below, then I would say a good bit of business.

Which games did he struggle defensively in?
Too specific a question. My memory doesn't work as well as that! 🤣 But when he did play his positional sense seemed suspect to me. And I believe that's why Turton was generally preferred. He can learn this stuff obviously.

Haha fair. I don't see where this notion that he can't defend well enough has come from. I suspect some of it has come from the fact that he can, and does, attack. Can't remember him getting targeted or struggling in any games. But I didn't see them all, hence the question!

He had one exceptionally difficult game against Ipswich when Gwion Edwards basically ran riot...apart from that I liked him and he will be a useful addition to the squad...personally I never understood why Turton was in front of him but alls well that ends well
