“We lacked that bit of quality“

Think we messed up big time when we failed to bring in another striker in January, with Madine now out we can’t keep relying on Yates to provide the goals as no one else can, today proved it.

To be honest I think January was a necessary evil we had to do as a club to clear the remnants of three previous squads, and try to balance the things out leaving the current team slightly thread bare in certain positions.

But it’s given us a great base to go out and spend serious money on the final pieces this summer.

For me the club knew this season was a step too far and have planned for next season to be the all out push.

We are missing a midfielder who will run at the opposition can pick a pass for Yates and Hamilton to run on to , Stewart is one who puts the ball over the top Yates doent want to jump with defender his strength is speed like cj

Agreed. I’m excited to see what we can do next season with no salary cap. Some posters on here don’t seem to understand that we couldn’t splash the cash this year and have a balanced squad at the same time. It made it too much of a level playing field for most of the clubs in the division.

I think it’s still hard to gauge how much the club still needed doing to it both on and off the field this season. The squad just being part of it.

The biggest clue this January that the rest of the season was just a preview for next year was lowering the squad to next years 20 man limit. Obviously 4-5 first team players will depart this season. Like you say I’m excited to see what we do. I can see us spending big on a top quality striker and winger/ attacking mid

Bring it on is all I can say to that!

Simms was brought in as the extra striker, as said above we couldn't keep bringing in extra players.
Exactly. Which is why next summer should see us not only knowing who to bring in, but more importantly WHY.

Critchley will be here to have a major input on all the dealings (like it or not, he's not going anywhere unless someone super douper comes along), and so you'd hope he's learnt enough to know the why bit.
