🍊 Alan Suddick 👑 12 years RIP

I remember going to a wedding and Alan was on a table with us obviously we started talking football and he told me how he perfected his free kicks.
I said you bent it before Beckham and he laughed,

A very special player, the other 10 player's could be bang average but you would still pay to watch Alan Suddick, The King of Bloomfield road!

Good isn't the right word but I can't think of the correct one.

When Alan passed away it was at a time when attendances were significantly higher than they were even if he'd only died say 5-6 years previous.

And although I'm sure many would have come specially anyway, it meant he got the best and most respectful send off we could give him at the time.

Like I said on the Tony Green thread, just wish I'd seen him play.

My first Pool hero, and probably still my favourite. He was outrageous at times, seemed to be playing a different game, never understood how he passed so accurately from a standing position.

Great seeing that again, he made it look so easy as someone has said.
I was best man at a wedding in 96, and Alan was an usher.
A great bloke, it was a privilege to meet him. He was surrounded by admirers all day it seemed.
When I asked if he still played a bit, he thought I was talking about golf!!

Bend it like Suddick sits nicely with me 👍

Loved watching his warm up, before a match, he would go round the cinder track, keeping the ball up, with his feet knees, shoulders, head, then back to changing room, job done

RIP
The King was part of an era when what a player did with the ball was considered as, if not more important than, the efforts of those who could run all day, but might not have been as productive.
Don't want to undervalue the contribution from the "engine room", but Alan had a natural talent no coach could teach.
Wonderful memories.
Thank you, Sir

His team mates who had the bonus of seeing his skills in training everyday were in awe of him.
It was a joy watching Pool in that era.

Next to Tony Green the best all round performer I have ever seen wearing the Tangerine. Fantastic first touch he could see and spot a pass well before other players. He displayed astonishing levels of skill that would have suited a Brazilian footballer. He should have played a few games for England if he had wanted to play for a more fashionable club. This was the golden era of the 70s that I remember in the main with such great affection.

Needless to say my all time favourite Blackpool player. His 'banana kick' would have been feted on the continent or with a top 3 side.
Had an exquisite touch and was one of the best volleyers Ive ever seen.

Only Tony Green could match him for my adoration, closely followed by Charlie.
