1 win from losing positions

Correct me if I’m wrong but haven’t we only won once (Hull) from losing positions this season?

For me this one of the more worrying stats from our season so far. Whether we’re too predictable, easy to manage or just easily shaken after conceding a goal or two, or maybe a bit of all of the above, it’s a real problem.

As soon as their second goal is went in today I had absolutely no confidence we’d win the game. Despite a very promising opening half an hour, you could just tell we were going to struggle from then on in. To be successful in this league, you have to have a bit of grit and resilience, and while we’ve shown that at times this season, we seem to just disappear from games at times.

We made an absolute mess of the January window last year imo, this time round we have to invest intelligently in a bit of experience and some goal scoring nouse. Today sums up our season so far, encouraging signs, but there’s just some things missing. This window could definitely change that.

You only have to look at how when we fall behind that teams get every man behind the ball to realise what is going on. Ipswich aside, it is also telling no side have really built on a one goal lead as they have all defended their leads with great success.

That was always one thing we had under Olly. We could go one or two down and you expected us to score. We normally did and often enough times to win.
We’d always have 1 lethal striker and one on the bench (Dicko, Philips, Dobbie etc).

Yates has lovely foot work and high energy levels but doesn’t look a natural striker yet (that might come in time?) We don’t have one never mind two lethal finishers to support the great work by Madine.

Anderson and KaiKai both have talent but it doesn’t seem to be consistent yet. Actually that’s probably our Achilles heel. I don’t subscribe to the players not having the talent - it’s more they can’t consistently produce it.

Dougall and Robson have both looked Championship level quality and likewise looked poor in games. Almost all of our number 10 / wingers have shown flashes of magic or even games where they looked amazing but just never consistently.
