14 games undefeated

I must say you guys are looking good and its exciting stuff in L1. Dont want to jinx it but the play offs look nailed on and anyone could blow up on the autos-apart from the Codheads*

*East Yarkshire ones.
 
Looking good at the moment. I get we can’t win every game but even the games we draw it always feels like we throw it away. Crewe, Wimbledon, Plymouth and yet again today we blink right at the end. I can only assume it is a fitness thing we somehow, after playing so well, gift a share of the spoils.

8 points and look at where we could have been. It does frustrate me automatic is out of reach but I guess we're going to have to prove we're the best team outside of the Top Two.
 
Just to point out that had we not had any draws in this unbeaten run, we still wouldn't be top right now. Only mentioning that to highlight just how difficult our task would've been to get automatic promotion - 14 straight wins wouldn't have got us top and would only just have put us second right now. Amongst the disappointment of the draws it's worth remembering that automatic promotion was only ever a remote possibility following our poor start. The players have been brilliant in the last few months if we keep the unbeaten run going, even with some draws, we'll claim a play/off place which would be a great achievement imo.

Said all along the play offs would be a fantastic achievement given how bad we were at the start of the season. Automatic was never a realistic ambition.

That’s why some of us were a bit miffed at the failure to get back to basics a bit quicker than we did when it wasn’t working. At least this now removes the auto pressure and we can get ourselves settled int the upper playoff berths to get us closer to the final.

Yes totally agree. These draws aren't what annoys me really, it's the poor start we had. So we've ended up in a situation where I think the team is actually good enough for auto, but it's always been just out of reach. That's the truly frustrating thing.
 
We were a bunch of strangers back then. Now we are a settled side that was strengthened after those opening games, and we should seeing out games like yesterday's.
 
If we make the play offs and don't go up we have the basis of a very good squad for next season and will need to use the loan market again as well as we have this year.
 
I think someone pointed it out on a thread, I can't remember but it was something I've been thinking myself. Is this run not necessarily a run of good form, but just our quality? Is it just that we are one of the better sides in the division and it isn't a run of form, we're just picking up results because we're better than other teams now?

It would certainly make sense:
OVER 30 GAMES: W16 D9 L5
OVER 25 GAMES: W13 D9 L3
OVER 15 GAMES: W8 D6 L1
OVER 10 GAMES: W5 D5

Since the team has had time to bed in, all the right personnel have arrived in terms of management and players we have been very good at picking up points - since the recent change in system we have been excellent, completely out playing teams regularly (something that was rare before). I believe we are just one of the best sides in the division rather than we are on an unbelievable run of form - a run doesn't last 25 games, that is just our quality now!
