It’s a football fans forum. Some of us enjoy other sports and so discuss them, hence it’s a forum!

The only derogatory post is yours. You didn’t have to even look mate, just scroll on to the next football post.

A lot of the bombers, Rory included, need to realise that this is a plotters course.
Just watch the way Rose and Fitzpatrick worked the ball today.
Rosey would have been leading if he could have bought a putt today!!!

Hatton playing very well as are the Hojgaard brothers.
Shows what a test it is ,Olesen -4 yesterday sticks it OOB off the 1st this morning.
Brian Harman could have a say at the weekend 🤷
There'll be more twist and turns before Sunday evening arrives

If boring wins you Opens I wish the likes of Fleetwood, Rose and to a degree Rory would be boring!!

Scheffler is as boring as they come and he's still on the leaderboard and hasn't teed off for his 2nd round yet!!

TBF to Tommy and Justin they're both compiling decent rounds today👍🏻
(Just as Rose carves one into the gorse🤦)

Indeed. Seems that if The Stiffler plays even half well he will walk away with this.

Rory's driving is painful. Snap hook, straight, block slice. Never seen him so wildly inconsistent.

I agree it amazes me that some people are under the delusion that this isn't a Cricket board. My picks doing OK English and Harris. I was too tight to lump on.
 
Fitzpatrick just made a worldie up and down on 18.
He's been in the wilderness but it'd be great to see him be the 1st Englishman to pick up the claret jug since Faldo.
Pity he missed that tiddler on 17

Scottie has this in the bag, he has played the media beautifully this week with his comments and has snuck under the radar.

Yep, he’ll just push on with another easy 3rd round 68 at worst.

Maybe Fitzpatrick can match him tomorrow and then last day who knows.

But that’s a long shot.
 
I reckon this is far from over. I can see someone like Hatton or Rory shooting low on moving day. Fitz is tremendous at his best and looks to be close. Harman dogged. Some signs that Rory getting his driving together but he will need to! Scheff obvs fav but a long way to go with so many good players around and 36 to play imo.

I have mentioned the numbers issue before and been slated for it. Last time LSA hosted they had 180k and can host 200k absolute limit with no way of expanding. Portrush has 278k coming through this week. C. 80k people is a lot of $, well into 7 figures when you consider entrance fee, merch etc. I'd love it to be back at Lytham but just can't see it, I think ladies and seniors is the best we're gonna get.

They have expanded though that's why the new practice area has been built and changes to other holes. I've been down at least once a month over the last 12 months walking past and the amount of work undertaken with the staff , equipment and costs is substantial. No way would the club and the R& A enter into that for just a ladies and senior. It should have come back here in 2026 to celebrate 100 years of Bobby Jones winning but was just a bit too early.

Fantastic putt at the 1st for Rory….now just needs to back it up with the rest of his round. Can’t have Scottie running away with it.

It’s only a stab in the dark but the extensive work Royal has done in the last 18 months won’t have just been for the Seniors or Women’s. The R & A will have definitely give them the nod.

It’ll be back.
