The nights start getting lighter. Something to cheer about?
Was going to say the same. I understand it's to do with the clock time of each day (which has to be of fixed length) being slightly different to the length of time of a natural day and the need to average out fixed clock time across the year. The nights started to get lighter from the 16th.
The bad news is that sunrise continues to be later until 2nd January.
Shortest day is 21st.
Great but can we just be happier with lighters nights from tomorrowWas going to say the same. Only if the weather is as sunny as it was tonight at dusk otherwise it will still appear to go darker earlier than today!Great but can we just be happier with lighters nights from tomorrow

I don't mind the dark nights, it's getting up in the dark that I hate. That’ll do for me - I hate the dark nights more than anything - the day I can get home at 5.30 and it’s still light is one I always look forward to
