They nearly sang the Danish version of “Will ye no’ come back again?” when the Blackpool F.C. tourists left Denmark.

THEIR praise of the team was almost embarrassing,” comments Manager Joe Smith, back in Blackpool today with the 16 men whose football sent the Denmark public into raptures.

“Everybody said - and I don’t think anybody was being merely polite - that we had the best team Britain has ever sent to the country.” said the Blackpool manager.

Note: I hope you've enjoyed reading these reports and articles over the past season and have found the historic information interesting and useful. The next match report for the following season 1947-48 commences with the home fixture against Chelsea on 23 August 1947. Stanley Matthews is now a Blackpool player and as you may recall the season ended with Blackpool's first FA Cup Final appearance against Manchester United at Wembley.

As well as reproducing these reports online those of you who read the matchday programme may have spotted the archive match reports that have been sourced from different seasons of the Green for Blackpool FC home games last season

Thank you for all the kind comments and feedback. Please support the blog pages by sharing links with fellow Pool fans. Have a great summer and see you again next season.

Brilliant stuff this season INOIT. Be good if you could keep it going next season.
The other articles on the front page of the Gazette are also fascinating.

Blackpool played a 5 match tour of Sweden and Denmark. The draw with Malmo followed by 3 games against a Copenhagen XI finishing with a game against Odense.

Only brief news cuttings between 24 May and 18 June and details of two games appear which were available all of which have been posted together on this one page.
