3pm next Saturday

Personally, the Royal Family leaves me cold. I genuinely don't understand why people are interested in it. What human need does it fulfil? What kind of entertainment does it provide?
My wife has the same view about football, especially when people moan about a funeral time clashing with something you can't attend or watch on TV. Her sentiments not mine 🙂

Yes but football pays for itself out of money contributed only by people interested in it.

They provide an alternative to politicians being the head of state if you think that is a bad thing and there are no other options.
They also act as a real life soap opera for people who like that sort of stuff, bit like the Kardashians without the glamour or the sex tapes.
All seems a bit odd to me in the 21st century but a lot of people have strong positive feelings for them and in some way supporting the institution of hereditary privilege and wealth makes them feel more British and therefore happier, so I suppose making a sizeable section of the population feel better is their purpose.

Sure, I'm just not sure how the institution of hereditary privilege and wealth makes them feel more British and happier. There's nowt as queer as folk, as they say.

It will have to be an earlier kick off if played on Saturday, it won't be allowed to clash with the FA cup semi final

The TV channels have already had many complaints about cancelling programs etc.
Let's face it, to cancel BBC1 and BBC2 and put the same program about the Duke etc on both channels was wrong IMO.
I am in favour of the Royal Family, but I thought TV had got it wrong.
No doubt there will be many more complaints this week, and especially on Saturday.
Unfortunately not all people like, or follow, the Royal Family. There are bound to be more complaints.

Twitter is split on this, just like AVFTT, but among all the obvious comments there were some I thought were funny.

Who’s this Philip bloke that’s died, first I’ve heard of it

Damn immigrants coming over here and buggering up our football schedules

When I go lads, just stick me 6ft under no need to create such a fuss.

If you don’t like kick offs being moved you’re going to hate Sky Sports mate

People die every day, let’s never play football as a mark of respect

We at Sheffield Wednesday are especially devastated by this news and request that the rest of the season is cancelled null and void

Are they showing the funeral on iFollow?

Watching @htafc at the moment is like watching a funeral so there won't be much difference

'People on here would still moan if they won £100 million on the lottery.'

When I saw who posted this comment my Ironyometer exploded.

Plumbs , I bet you're smiling this morning? 😉
Yup its great. Hope we beat Manure in a couple of weeks then I can walk into that newsagents* on Red Bank Road and ask for a Yorkshire Evening Post on the Monday 😁

*wears a Scum shirt and rattles on about 'United'. I'd just love it,simply love it if we beat them*

Really!? When there's currently a majority in the electorate who love 'good old Boris' and his chums...who also voted for David 'do us a favour Rishi' Cameron. All old Etonian chums together. Our working class love to know their place and will always look up to the Upper Classes - Gowd luv 'em. Sometimes I wish we had the French proletariat living here.

It's going to be a family's funeral for one person's husband of over 70 years, four people's dad and a grandfather and great grandfather.
There will be 30 people there.
If you're not interested in it get on with your life.
There's no need for all the negative comments or people trying to be funny.

In a country where people take the knee, a protest triggered by a career criminal in a foreign country, in a sudo show of respect and then think the death of a war hero is inconvenient then some people really need to give their heads a good wobble.
What the fuck has KO time got to do with George Floyd? Stop stirring shit where there is none

Indeed, I just don't really understand it. Safety in numbers or something, perhaps. Fear of change?

It was an excuse to have a pop at the BBC.

ITV and Channel 4 also had Duke programmes but no one had a go at them

I agree with your sentiment but I think that some of the posts you question have not been too serious.

Maybe lighten up a little.

No different to religion. I have no idea how anyone believes in a god. But that's up to them, this is basically the same. People believe in a monarchy and it's what they take joy and sadness from.

Well maybe but actually religion and a wealthy family are completely different things.

It's the same in that if you're not bothered by it don't comment.

And the concept of believing in something is exactly the same.
But i am bothered by it and that's why I commented.

The concept of believing? So what? It's the thing you believe in that matters....

Nothing, are you illiterate?
No that’s how I read straight through your ill informed shit stirring. I would love it if your plan is now to pretend you weren’t talking about BLM. I’ll get some popcorn.

I'm surprised you even learned to speak. You certainly can't read.
And for the record, all lives matter.
I don't discriminate.
