73 points from the last 38 games

after 4 point in the first 7 games.
If we don't get promoted, I think that will always stick in Critch's craw. Could he have done anything different. Don't forget this was the same side that pasted Everton and so pre-season preparations were spot on - were we just unlucky or could the manager have done anything different?

It feels like some of our fans have only just noticed how well we are doing. Moaned and criticised all season. Moan on here during games until the final whistle goes and we've won.

What is it with these people?

Some of us have stood by the coaches and the players all season, right from the start, through the dodgy first ten games, and Xmas etc. and remained positive and optimistic, and even predicted we would do well and get to the playoffs, throughout it all.

We are the special ones. 👍

The job is not done yet.
It's not completed. But we have secured a play off place, and sit third with a game to go.

Anything can happen in the play offs. Fine margins, decisions and luck often determine the outcomes. We will keep our games tight, as we do, we just have to hope we find the inspiration in the final third which has been the least convincing aspect of our season. Simms and Yates are in good form though. Shame there's no CJ. Hopefully KK will be back and up for it. Keshi looks up for it. Garbutt getting forward is a good weapon. We could do with Ward back. Perhaps Madine will reappear from a cloud of smoke. We have two weeks to prepare and to mend the wounded.

The thing that’s weird about the pessimists who have been moaning all season is looking back, this is one of the easiest smoothest landings we’ve ever made into the playoff places. Nobody will look back on this season and come out with any of the shit they came out with during it. During that initial purple patch I did feel like a bit of an idiot still telling people it would come good, but I just thought it was quite obvious we had a good team that needed time.

I’m sure other people would have seen it that way if their heads were screwed on, but I think it’s just been such a shit year for everybody that it makes sense people would struggle to be optimistic. Lockdown anxiety.

Go back to the Sunderland match day thread and we were boring, dull and about to get hammered.

Those fans are special.

Well I think I’ve been mainly upbeat & perhaps I was wrong about giving Grayson another 6 months 😂 glad we didn’t though now, but that’s with hindsight. 😄😄😄

Very much like the post that was reposted yesterday about Simms. Everything is crap. Players, management, ground, results. I've heard of Long COVID, methinks this could be Long Oystons.

The bottom line is we are individuals, with different perceptions who all see things differently. As Alf says, Lockdown anxiety will have amplified those views and perceptions (both ways I believe). Isn’t it fantastic that after the boycott years this board is now alive with football debate, views and opinions.

You just wanted to say Critch's craw didn't you? 😁

Hmmm more of a very nasty brown patch as I recall. The purple patch was the 16 game unbeaten run but I take your point.
Strangely I can think of at least 3 of the regular Doomers who ve said precious little over the last 3 wins

Those first 10 games were frustrating. You could see we had potential. We passed the ball on the floor we pressed (too high) and were caught on the break countless times. The arrival of Calderwood as number 2 and Kenny Dougal in midfield seem to be the missing pieces of the puzzle. A tweak of tactics and there was a marked change in our performances and results. There seems to be a bond in that dressing room too. The way the lads celebrate scoring (if only there was a crowd). We do know how to generate some noise and in typical Seaside style we are never quiet.
It is looking promising for the future.
Onwards and upwards! UTMP!

One of those moments you realise you've understood a phrase wrong your entire life. Honestly.
