A disaster waiting to happen?

So your blaming those who have to sort out the crime more than the idiots committing it?
Weird I go home games like yourself without having the need for a punch up same as my lad we need to change the culture as just throwing extra Police on the situation is clearly not working.

Why are we having these problems more so than when in the PL is it maybe because we have a supporters group named after a hooligan firm and the need breed want a punch up?
The atmosphere they have created is brilliant but missles, flares fighting amongst other things has to stop and until it does it won't matter what the Old Bill do.
Right, I understand your support for the police and a lot of what they do under restraint is commendable.
However in a situation like this they are there to POLICE the event so surely it would be better to dissolve the problem at source.
Football hooliganism is waning to a degree but is still prevalent, it's the society that we live in unfortunately where you can still get a good kicking at a football match, a kid can get stabbed outside their school and folk end up in A&E after going to a nightclub. Punishments don't fit crimes and if they did we'd not be having this discussion in the first place 🤷‍♂️

Its classed as holding someone against there will ,even the police are not allowed to do that without reason.
But they have reason, public safety, which is why we have the police, surely?
If they don't keep them in and allow both sets of supporters out onto Bloomfield Road at the same time it's absolute madness. People can argue all they want about it being ridiculous people go to the football for a fight, but incidents occur, people get caught up in it, sometimes you don't go looking for trouble, but you're in the wrong place at the wrong time and you become involved.

It's like the police want it to kick off to justify a bigger police presence, film it and prosecute people so the courts dish out banning orders. If they allow this to happen its negligence and if someone gets seriously hurt they have blood on their hands.

Hi Goldfinger , I Think all of that should apply to the ground authorities and police - my brother witnessed someone (older person) falling over in the Road near BR in the exit melee after the Blackburn match and actually, Lee Charles TV caught the people/fan crash on camera

It only takes one idiot to cause a major riot !

And isn’t H & S. supposed to apply as much after the fixture as before it - it’s a huge day out for everyone let’s hVe a bit of common sense

This will be a record attendance in our new ground I guess

Keep safe and enjoy the theatre all and just add in a bit of delay time more than normal that’s your own H & S mission

Get there early and enjoy the atmosphere 👍⚽🍊😎
"This will be a record attendance in our new ground I guess"

That's a bit of a wild guess, you seem to forget we were in the the Prem ten years ago and I doubt very much it'll be anywhere near the 15,871 that attended the Southend game.

I know someone who was in the West Ham end at Old Trafford a few weeks ago.
He said they were kept inside for 20 mins or so after the final whistle.

The trouble is at Blackpool, is if the away fans are locked in, they will jump over the wall, past the stewards and out of the Blackpool ends.

Keep Preston fans in for 15 mins

Why not keep Blackpool fans in for 15 minutes instead

- generally they have less distance to travel than pne
- they could keep the bars open
- special dispensation can be made for anyone able show proof of purchase of a train ticket out of Lancashire
- counselling would be available for the Bloomfield walkers, provided by Wigan fc
- and last but not least the bbc have agreed to put Strictly back by 20 minutes

That can’t be true as away fans of other teams have been kept in after matches recently
That would be interesting. Over the tannoy.."we advise all Preston fans to remain in their seats for at least 10 minutes after the game. Our intelligence suggest there are approximately one thousand rival supporters waiting for you outside. If you do wish to exit immediately..good luck!!"

I totally agree with the OP.

It's really strange. I don't understand the 'we can't keep them behind' logic at all.

1: there's precedent. It's us v them ffs.
2: as ever in this sort of game there's rumours of all sorts of stuff. They're stopping fans (presumably young lads who look like they might be nobbers) without tickets boarding trains in Preston. That's as much of an infringement of rights as keeping them in the ground surely?
3: It's about safety for BOTH sets of fans.
4: Even without trouble, Bloomfield Road is ridiculously busy after the game and that alone creates a public safety risk. After one of the games it was quite dicey when the coppers galloped their horse up, shouting 'get out the way' which isn't easy for elderly and infirm people, or people with a couple of kids in tow to instantly comply with.

On every level, it feels there is REASONABLE grounds to stagger the exit of fans.

Could you imagine preventing the West Stand cronies from leaving early!
They have to be home for supper at 5 pm.

Well if we cant bla

Well if we can't blame the police after making a decision like this who do we blame?
As said before Boro and Cardiff were let out onto Bloomfield road at full time along with Pool fans and skirmishes occurred.
God knows what'll happen today if this happens especially, god forbid, Nob end actually win!!!
Maybe blame the morons who are going out deliberately to cause trouble and bring their club into disrepute. Nothings happened yet and we’re already blaming everyone but the perpetrators. They already know that whatever happens they’re not going to be held responsible. After all it’s just a few lads having a bit of fun.

Such a shame when people like myself can’t contemplate taking my 6 yr old grandson to watch a football match for the fear he could get hurt by opposing fans. Sad fecking times
sad times that have been around during the 70s, 80s, 90s and into the millennium - i took both my kids to high profile games and nothing ever happened or put them at risk - if you want to keep away from any “bother” you can do without to much effort tbh.

You have more chance of getting caught up in it if you are around town today than at Bloomfield

People like me have to go to work straight after the match so keeping home fans in wouldn’t be ideal

The herding of fans AFTER the game all seems a bit pointless as BEFORE the game everyone is mingling together before entering the ground. There’s much more potent for a flashpoint on back Henry street before the game than after yet there’s not a copper in sight.

Take it you won't be at the game then! Let's face it you never offer any opinions on any of the games do you? Just saying like.

It is.

I don't understand how they think it's appropriate.

My only hope is that the 2200 nobbers are basically our 'West' and those days are behind them.

Other than that, how are we going to stop those of our own fans looking for conflict leaving the ground early and waiting for them?

Could be ugly, which is the reason I'm not taking my youngest.

Ts

The likelihood is that there will not be any serious trouble but the coppers are not doing their best to ensure that's the case.

It is a shame that your young lad has to miss out and for that I blame the failure of the coppers to apply common sense and take reasonable actions to help reduce the chance of trouble.

Calm down Maggie Thatcher.
It’s been a problem for a while The game today just heightens the issue. I don’t see why the police can’t deal as they did in the prem season It’s all become an unnecessary difficulty with the police appearing to make it more difficult

The Police are feckin useless. It should be the same for every match. Exit the away fans from North and never onto Bloomfield Rd. Where trouble is expected (as it is today), additionally keep them back for 15 mins

Well it happened, the ground safety officer SLO and football. Club need to ask the police and match day commander just what the fuck was he and his officers playing at yesterday.
Let's not only let everyone out at the same time but actively coral them all into the same place. Was chaos Saville Rd, Orkney avenue with pool supporters held there and Preston fans allowed to go up St Heliers and around the back. Hope no one was seriously hurt in any of the scuffles that broke out. However it was totally preventable had it not been for inept and woeful policing.
