A fitting send off

when i was a teen an awful long time ago i used to know virtually the names of the city / united first teams Yet i would be unable to name very few of the current teams. is it just a long term memory thing or just a fondness for that era. I was never city or utd but they were epic clashes in the seventies,

I think it's a fondness of the era.
Could probably name every fa cup winners from 1970 - 90
Couldn't tell you who won 3 years ago though🤷

A true English legend of the game.

Watching the match now, the gulf is ever widening between these two teams. United look poor and I’d think they’ll be battling for the final Thursday night euro conference slot

United's biggest problem is their captain, closely followed by their 'star' forward Rashford. They have the wrong mentality and yet get guaranteed games despite performance. The second biggest problem is giving contract extensions to underwhelming players to protect their market value.

If United finished 6th while playing football with an actual coherent philosophy, 99% of matchgoing fans would be happier than the current XI getting 4th.

Hannibal, Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojlund, Diallo instead of Eriksen, Bruno, Rashford, Martial, Sancho. That's not to say the youngsters would be world beaters, just that the current crop of undroppables need a kick up the arse.

Might be because most of them are foreigners now?
