At this point with the season practically over we're in a dilemma we really shouldn't be in.

With 14 games left to go, what do you do?
Risk trying to get the feel good factor back now, possibly with Jones? If he really hasn't jumped at the opportunity to manage us then despite his credentials I'd move on from him completely the wrong signs for me.

Do you take a punt on Heckingbottom to get that feeling back? Lets be honest we all know the ending to that film, we've just seen it with Larry.

Or do you wait until the summer with Dunn in charge for now, 14 games to eek out, playing regurgitated tactics left over from Larry that could completely kill any momentum as a club. With us being no better placed in three or four months time depending on who's available in the summer.

After assessing all that the only other alternative would be Evo unless I'm missing someone obvious or a foreign appointment no one knows about, which is just as risky as taking a gamble on Evo. Pride, passion and belief not in question.
Fantastic CV as a player at this level and decent start to one as a lower league manager.
For me this is now our only option and one we're daft to rule ourselves out of.

We really shouldn't be in this situation one way or another, whether you never wanted Larry in the first place or wanted him to the end of the season. We're in a weird position of our own making now and its the first big test of the management structure.

I’d wait until the summer. No point in a “he’ll do” type appointment. See who’s about in the summer and take it from there

Can you not tap up your contact within the club to try and find out what the thinking is behind their recruitment policy?

Worth a shot.

They spoke to NJ first, before Larry was sacked apparently and out of the handful they interviewed it was his for the taking.

It's back to square one now apparently.

My point was what could the damage of 14 more games of this be?

Complete apathy for the club when there really shouldn't be any? Maybe?

Relegation? unlikely but maybe.

I think 14 more games of this and then the wrong appointment - or the wrong appointment now - could be catastrophic for the club.

For nearly 5 years a lot of fans found other things to do on a Saturday...... another few months of what we've seen plus another poor appointment could potentially lead to a fair amount of them going back to doing other things again.

Which was my thinking too.

If Jones has really binned us (I still think theres a decent chance he joins us ) then I really don't see what Evo cant be given the job.

I don't see Evo being the wrong appointment the more I think about it.

The potential backlash from the wrong appointment when Evatt has been categorically ruled out makes me wonder if it would be a scenario where anyone would struggle to succeed.
That's not to say the board should pander to the fans, but they should do a hell of a lot more than hire someone because he's either available right away or mates with a board member.

Think people are getting their knickers in a twist for no reason.

I think we are in a good position. Not going up or down, a basis of a good team and month or so if needed to get the right person.

The biggest teams have had prolonged periods of a caretaker manager and its not been a catastrophe.

We seem to be getting needier as a fan base.

Agreed. No rush. As long as there’s someone in by the start of July it’s all good

If the right man is not presently available then stick with Dunn until the end of the season. As others have said, this appointment has to be right. Jones is my preferred choice but if he’s not keen for whatever reason then we probably need to steer clear from him.

Dunn looks like he wants out now. But someone else could look after the team til May. Beginning of July is too late to start the new guy surely? We want somebody in by May at the latest I would say, so we can plan the recruitment.

Seems a bit odd that people have been clamouring for Grayson to go, not unjustly I might add, now plea for patience. The cries have been, anyone would be better than this, we need a change for the good of the club/crowds etc.

so with the prospect of 14 more games of very uninspiring turgid dull football it strikes me as odd that the same people don’t now see the urgency of getting the right person in to stop the current apathy and to get the feel good factor back.

my worry is more of the same for 3 or 4 months may see the new manager in the summer starting up against it.

if we are waiting for summer, what exactly are we waiting for? Someone to be sacked?

Do our ground work now, take our time if need be but don’t rush into it. Should be safe this year the team has enough to win sufficient points to keep us away from the relegation scrap. We can then appoint soon after the end of the season, but whoever the next manager is some people will still complain. I would though go for a young manager not someone who has failed more times than succeeded.

But what are we waiting for in the summer? Someone to be fired?

Iv got to say the list we’ve drawn up is really uninspiring. A sign BM has been out of the country a couple of years?

even more disappointed that at the first sign of resistance from Plymouth over Lowe we folded.

I thought this was the new Blackpool I de renew ownership. We do things differently now? Don’t we.

Taking a punt on Heckingbottom sounds like a perfect day out to me 🤔

The club needs revenue. Season tickets need to be sold. That should be concentrating minds on how to move forward ASAP.

"a basis of a good team..."?

You mean the squad that:
*gave Rovers a first win in 15 matches
*have won a paltry one of the last 13 games
*gone five months since a victory away.
*has kept no clean sheet in 17 outings.

Almost total rebuild needed.

Positive as ever 👍

Positive as ever 👍

Realistic.

Right early about Oyscum and Grayson.

The players lack confidence in themselves, after a manager who lost his own self-belief.

Now, amid the club's decision to omit Evatt, fans are losing confidence in the chiefs.

If we do go for Evatt, surely he should be allowed to finish the season off at Barrow. After all, we have nothing to play for, but they do.
Imagine being a Barrow fan and having to hear all this arrogance and snobbery from Blackpool fans.

Bowyer until end of season if he would accept that. Re-evaluate then depending on Bowyers success, Evos availability and whoever is then available. Personally, I would show intention now and go for Karl Robinson, Flynn from Newport or Lowe from Plymouth, pay compensation and show we mean business.

Footballs a dog eat dog world.
I don’t really care about Barrow their fans or their league position.

if we want their manager and we think he’s the right man. It shouldn’t even come into it.

l suspect that SS will be concerned about trundling along with this terrible slump continuing without a manager in place and the impact it will have on season ticket sales for next season. He will want this sorting as quickly as possible but knows he's got to get the right person in and get the feel good factor back into BFC and the fans.

I completely agree.....

Except the Heckingbottom link totally contradicts this.

At the end of the season, if Barrow have been promoted, will he then be experienced enough? 🤔
I said the other day what difference does 3 months make.
Surely turning around a team like Barrow and guiding them to success they could never of dreamed of before Evatt took over should be experience enough.
Barring a catastrophic clusterf*ck his team are going up as champions, I don't see how that couldn't be classed as success and experience that is both relevant and current.

But no, let's bring in a mate of Mansfords or a guy that is an absolute legend in Goa 🤔

🤔

Even if they dont go up as champions (and they are only 4 points clear with a game in hand, with plenty of games to be overtaken), his work at Barrow up to now is still a very good sign of competence.

We don't know if he could translate that to League One with us, but we dont what anybody would do.

Does Mansford have any sort of connection with Nathan Jones?

The damage was done whilst interviewing and Larry was still here..... Larry must have known what was going down and it wouldn’t have motivated him. If you’re going to pot your Manager, just make sure you have a replacement lined up. Looks like something has happened the club didn't bank on - all speculation, but bloody strange no one has been appointed.

If we did get Evatt what would you post about after that?

Its never anything positive is it, not sure your even a pool fan.

Youd have to resort to....

SADLER MUST IMPROVE PIES AS MATTER OF URGENCY

FAILUER TO ACT WILL RESULT IN NEGATIVE ATTENDANCE IMPACT AND POSSIBLE FLATULENCE

But then you wont be attending games to know about pies would you...

We're not waiting for summer. It's been 4 and a half days since Grayson was sacked.

No such interviews took place

No one knows who will be or won't be a success, but you have to hedge your bets by trying to be as thorough as possible in the recruitment stage and pick someone who fits your vision. And even then it still might not work out. That's sport. That's life.

I don't think Jones is a mate of Mansford's, but the bookie second favourite, Heckingbottom is.

Surely the club will have been inundated with agents pimping their out of work Managers? If the Oystons were still here, I could understand the search being slow, but with the ‘new’ BFC, surely we’re a club that people want to join?

If you read the thread I’m questioning why posters have gone from wanting an immediate change. To wanting to wait till summer now?
Seems strange to me. As we may as well have kept Grayson till summer.

Interviews have 100% taken place Blackpool you’re talking cobblers.
