Any way of turning off or at least lessening them?

Completely understand the reasons behind it. I just scroll down past them, so no major problemWe try to keep adverts to a minimum and have no control over the size. A few weeks ago, the ad company placed some coding on the site which meant there were ads every 4 messages which we got removed (despite being financially lucrative) and now we have just 3 ads (which is 2 on a mobile). To run this site every month (along with the Boro site) costs over £1000 - when it used to be part of Fansonline we had more sites and therefore the costs were spread more evenly.
Now there are just the two sites, the ads are the only way we have to finance them. So whilst we appreciate they might be an inconvenience (and in comparison to some of the local newspaper websites and others, we'd say the ads on this site are not intrusive), if you install ad blocker then it just deprives us of revenue to run the
