We try to keep adverts to a minimum and have no control over the size. A few weeks ago, the ad company placed some coding on the site which meant there were ads every 4 messages which we got removed (despite being financially lucrative) and now we have just 3 ads (which is 2 on a mobile). To run this site every month (along with the Boro site) costs over £1000 - when it used to be part of Fansonline we had more sites and therefore the costs were spread more evenly.
Now there are just the two sites, the ads are the only way we have to finance them. So whilst we appreciate they might be an inconvenience (and in comparison to some of the local newspaper websites and others, we'd say the ads on this site are not intrusive), if you install ad blocker then it just deprives us of revenue to run the site.

It has got better, so no issue with current level.

Don’t think I would want to be without this site. It’s informative and entertaining.
I‘m embarrassed to say, I never considered the cost of it’s operation (naive, huh).
So, if the ads/nuisance are the price we pay, so be it.

Funnily enough we’ve just employed a specialist with the forum software who is working on it today (so click those ads )

This site should have a PayPal section like Wikipedia does to help contribute to the cost, I'd happily donate on yearly renew basis like my BST membership.

Or have an App which you have to pay for I subscribe to a few and they are peanuts.

A subscription option to block ads would be a great idea, not sure the costs of implementing it would be covered by the sign ups though, let alone the loss on revenue.
