After two friendly’s, who can name their 1st 11

An alarming amount of people not including KaiKai;

I’m backing him to be our best player next season, and he’s scored 2 (albeit poor opposition) already.

I also though he, as well as Yates, chased a lot down today.

Kaikai does little to warrant selection IMO. Hope he proves me wrong. But Anderson, Yates and Hamilton all look better on the early evidence. To my eyes.

I honestly can’t see Hamilton as anything other than someone you’d bring on 2nd half for his pace injection and change things up. BFC era Malkin was a better finisher than this lad but he has time to learn. I wouldn’t be throwing him into a team as a starter just yet. He needs a fair bit of coaching yet.

One thing is for certain, on paper if everyone is fit plus 2 more (1Exp CM And 1Central defender) we look relatively strong for a starting 11 with a an equally strong bench

Good thread discipline FB!

Maxwell,

Turton, Nottingham, Ekipeta, Husband,

Robson, Sarkic, Ward,

Hamilton, Yates, Anderson.
The only change I would make to the above is Virtue for Ward. However, I think Critchley will still bring in some additional quality in at least at centre back and centre midfield. It would be good if they allowed 5 subs next season, because we could have a quality bench

Some great looking combinations, not sure on the exact team yet but attacking wise just get all that firepower on there.

Hamilton Anderson Yates Kaikai plus the rest of the strikers on as subs if needed.

We want goals.

He's rusty. Good finisher when he's playing regularly. I think he'll be a starter once he finds his range.

Looks like Beni Bangemin is a done deal....
Where will this leave Cameron Antwi.....
On loan somewhere
I hope young Mr Antwi gets his chance with us , even if it’s only the odd 10- 15 minutes here and there, that will build his confidence and give him valuable experience at the same time.

After another good performance, I’d be surprised if Antwi wasn’t attracting league 2 clubs for a loan deal.

Having not watched us yet, I couldn't name a starting XI but I would just say that bar Kaikai, Feeney, Husband and maybe one or two others that unless we have more new players than old on the starting day I feel Critch will have felt he's failed.

Kaikai,Yates, Anderson nailed on starters.
Will run their hearts out for 65/70 minutes, then look at feeney, madine,cj for the latter stages, although to be honest we do look spoilt for choice in the top half and I expect whoever's plays to play the same way regardless. Midfield is interesting, I am not sure just yet, another couple of friendlies on youtube might help. Defence Turton, Ekpiteta,Husband, MacDonald or shaw.
Gk, Maxwell

?!?!? Good to have the confusion suggests a stronger squad than previous squads which usually picked itself

I think you need to watch us but I'm not sure that any of the three you have mentioned are nailed on starters come the start of the season.

Genuinely don't have a clue on formation or selection, although based on performances so far I would say the following are starters:

Maxwell, Husband, Antwi, Anderson, Kaikai and Yates

I likened Yates to Ormerod before either of our friendlies, to hear the same references in the match thread was nice. I think we've got ourselves a really hardworking forward.

Maxwell
Howe ekpiteta thorniley mcdonald
Antwi virtue
Ward Anderson kaikai (all rotating)
Yates
Haven't seen enough of Robson or sarkic, CJ will cause problems against tired defence,

Need some experience in CDM to drop between the centre backs when the full backs go forward and need another CB for depth

Farm Shimwell Garrett Fenton Johnston Robinson Matthews Taylor Mortensen Mudie Perry.
A very good side Trammo but if you include the two injured players Hugh Kelly and Allan Brown for Robinson and Mudie(who at that point was about 3 years from his peak) you would have an even better team.

Maxwell
Turton - Marv - Thorniley - Husband
Virtue - Robson
CJ - Anderson - Kaikai
Yates.

centre back & right wing is certainly up for grabs. Still need 2 more cb’s but think Ekpiteta will be a definite starter, not seen enough of Thorniley yet.
Think Robson will be one of our best players this season but still think we need an out and out ball winning midfielder to go alongside EITHER virtue or Robson in a 4231 - Or with both of them in a 433 with Keshi, Kaikai & Yates in a fluid, rotating front 3

We’d still only have Virtue, Robson and Beni ahead of him. Let’s not get carried away, we need competition in that area. If he’s good enough he’ll play.

Mansfield fans rated him most as a striker, so I’m sure he will be a good finisher: dont know why people are judging his finishing abilities based on a couple of missed chances in his second pre season game after months off. Of course he’ll be a bit rusty!!

Looking at these teams I can see us conceding a few goals some games just from set pieces. Apart from Ekepeta we have no aerial presence in most of these teams. We relied on Gnado and 2 big CB last season.

I think we lack height at set pieces.....and certainly we lack physical strength....
Howe and McDonald are most certainly lacking in physicality....

I'd prefer CJ to Feeney to be honest, based on what I've seen so far pre-season anyway. He looks to be a real threat and menace!! That said, i can understand the thought of him coming off the bench to help save or win a game.

As it stands;

Yates
KaiKai - Anderson - Ward
Virtue - Antwi
McDonald - Thorniley - Ekpiteta - Turton
Maxwell

I’d expect Robson to replace Antwi, although I haven’t seen enough of him to judge.

Ward has impressed me too, as I had Sarkic in that RAM position last week. Also, Hamilton brought on against tiring legs in the 60th could be lethal.

Another centre back, maybe a back up midfielder through the door and we’re in for a very strong season.
Yates in goal and maxwell as the front man that is radical 🤪

We are top heavy. If we don't address the defence we're in for loads of goals this season (in both ends!). Not convinced with any defenders yet except Macdonald who has to start for me. Been impressed whenever he's played and is very good on the ball if lacking some physicality. Thorniley looks more composed already after looking a mess against Wycombe away last season. Ideally we could do with a solid right back and a big commanding keeper to come in to compete with Maxwell for the No 1 jersey. We are desperately lacking a captain too.

Going to cheat and do this after three friendlies...

Maxwell
Turton Notthingham Thorniley MacDonald
Antwi
Virtue Anderson
Hamilton Yates Kaikai

Was torn between MacDonald and Shaw

From what I’ve seen I’d go;
Maxwell
Turton Ekpeteta Husband Shaw
Ward Robson Virtue
Anderson Yates CJ

although I imagine we’re gonna get 4/5 more in before the end of the month

I haven’t watched the second half v Barrow yet, but on the first half showing Nathan Shaw could cement his place in the match day squad, from what I’ve seen of him so far , he hasn’t put a foot wrong !

From what I have seen so far in the friendlies I think you have to have a place for Shaw and Antwi, not sure why so many people are putting KiaKia in the starting 11, Ok he scored the other day but for me still needs to do a lot more and be consistent. For The rest of the team add Yates and Maxwell (not much competition), all other places up for grabs, but NC certainly has option and the loans are yet to arrive👍👍 biggest disappointment Madine😪

Thought that was good side but you are leaving out Antwi Shaw Sarkic Ward and Nottingham who have done their potential selection no harm at all so far
We will have a better bench than most
I think it will be either Madine or Nuttall as option up front off the bench
