After two friendly’s, who can name their 1st 11

I’ll start with
Maxwell
Turton Nottingham, Thorniley, Husband.
Antwi
Sarkic, Robson.
Anderson, Yates , KaiKai.

Anderson looks our best player so far - one of them - so would want him on the teamsheet, particularly if Yates is playing. They obviously had an understanding.

Maxwell
Turton Nottingham Marc Husband
Antwi
Sarkic Robson
Hamilton Yates Anderson

The front 3 look terrifying with pace and quality so I think we need to sure things up with substance in the midfield 3, Antwi could really be a gem and I can see Sarkic picking up some goals.
Maybe drop Anderson to a number 10 role and replace with Kai Kai but not based on today’s performance

Maxwell Yates Anderson all nailed on
Kai Kai and CJ wont be far off
Virtue Ward robson Sarkic and Antwi will be fighting for midfield berth but I suspect we will get a loan in there
Thorniley did ok today and Husband will be involved
I reckon we will get 2-3 more permanents and 3-4 loans so I am sure back up keeper, 2 centre halfs a right back and another quality player in the middle will be the priority
We still need a lot in to make us good things to go up. Blatantly obvious that right back and centre halfs need strengthening

Go on name your fist 11 from what you’ve seen so far !

I think Howe, Feeney, Nuttall, Turton and Nottingham will be bit part players and I suspect a couple of them wont be here all season. I will give Big Marv the benefit of the doubt for now but that was nowhere near good enough to guarantee a first team slot

First 11 ?

You've just named all 3 players capable of filling in at right back, one of them will have to play 😂

Maxwell
Howe. Nottingham. Thorniley. Husband
Adam
Kai Kai. Antwi
Anderson
Sarkic. Yates.

I’m expecting Big Marv and Turton to be in Critchleys team though.

Surprised so many people put husband as a centre half. He is only 5’ 10 or so . A sweeper perhaps but not a ctr half for me .

Just text son and said lots of pace in the side, not sure how solid the CBs are, don't think we've seen our strongest 11 play together yet but don't know who they are.
But I'll give it a go.
Maxwell
Turton Nottingham Husband Shaw
Virtue Robson Antwi
Yates Hamilton Anderson.

I'm biased toward Winkey (Nathan Shaw) please learn his nickname but you could easily swap him for MacDonald.
I think Sarkic played out of position today because he's a striker so I'm unsure about him.
I'll say it again we need a left-sided experienced, captain material CB but Thorniley grew into the game but I still think Hubby has the edge as the team's hard man. (I've now forgiven him for winking at me after he got Gnanduillet sent off but I'm warning him not to cross me)
We need Ekpiteta's size but he looke a little bit lacking in experience.
We are looking like a side that plays on the basis that "we'll score one more than you".

What are all these votes for Nottingham?? Am I missing something here? Dreadful player
He’s simply played really well so far. He’s surprised me massively. Even Turton surprised on the upside today. I like seeing this in the squad, suggests they are keen.

I haven’t a clue and I’m sure Mr . Critchley won’t be taking advice from here.
I’m not asking for him to take advice, I’m just asking for peoples personal opinion on a first 11, it’s easy really, and I find it interesting to see how much opinions differ .

There are 46 League games, probably a total of 4 competitive Cup games, and another (say) 4 in the lower league Cup competition.
It’s a numbers game. Having 15 or so really good players gets you to the the top of the league by the end of Sept, mid table by Christmas, and about 18th by April, Injuries, suspensions and exhaustion take their toll.
There is no first team. To succeed, at least 24 quality players are needed, with 18 of them needed each game. You can never have too many good players.

So who would be in your starting 11 for the next game ?

I'm with Insider on this one.

Yates Hamilton Anderson up front. The three most impressive attacking players so far. Early days obviously. Sarkic is an interesting player, I hope he fits in. He and Anderson both seem to prefer a No. 10 role. Hamilton is a striker, left or centre I believe. Who plays on the right? Feeney?

Virtue , Robson, Antwi, the pick of the midfielders. Baningime coming in next week, likely to displace one of those. Antwi looks good, and some good early signs from Robson today.

Defence looks the weakest area. Turton and Nottingham looked the best central defenders today. Ekpiteta will improve as he adjusts. Shaw looks decent. Howe not strong enough defensively. Jury still out on Thorniley.

Recruitment has noticeably improved under NC. We are saddled with poor signings made before he arrived. Who chose them? Tommy Johnson?

I'm not totally convinced by Maxwell. He does some things well.

And I'm not convinced by Kaikai either. Looks like he's lost the love, to me. Disinterested. Just occasion glimpses, but nowhere near enough.

As it stands;

Yates
KaiKai - Anderson - Ward
Virtue - Antwi
McDonald - Thorniley - Ekpiteta - Turton
Maxwell

I’d expect Robson to replace Antwi, although I haven’t seen enough of him to judge.

Ward has impressed me too, as I had Sarkic in that RAM position last week. Also, Hamilton brought on against tiring legs in the 60th could be lethal.

Another centre back, maybe a back up midfielder through the door and we’re in for a very strong season.

Not sure what my 11 would be. Critchley is obviously looking to play out from the back so will be looking at defenders who are comfortable on the ball which we are short of at the moment.

Turton's distribution from right back is gash but was decent today playing from centre-back.
Big Marv looks to play the ball on the floor but had so dodgy moments where he gave the ball away today but has pace to help recover his mistakes.
MacDonald is very comfortable on the ball so would put him in at left back.
Right back is an issue though Howe was okayish - hopefully he can fill the role but this might be where we need to get a good, young EPL loanee.

Midfield and upfront we have a myriad of options, most of whom could do a job.

So I'd go for the following at moment.

Maxwell
Howe, Big Marv, Turton, MacDonald
Ward Virtue Anwi
CJ Anderson
Yates

** hell, that was difficult and I'll probably have changed my mind totally by this time next week.

As you say lots of options through mid-field and up front with most players interchangeable and I don't mind that.
I'm more than happy with Maxwell.
The back 4 concerns me. I'd like that to be a solid unit with the same 4 playing regularly together. The problem is I don't know which 4 to pick and that's not because I'm spoilt for choice.

I’m quite enjoying reading all these posts , lots of varying opinions, and while we’re all doing our best to select a good hypothetical starting eleven, there is a high probability that there could be three or four of the players currently being considered, who are sent out on loan or replaced by more new signings.

An alarming amount of people not including KaiKai;

I’m backing him to be our best player next season, and he’s scored 2 (albeit poor opposition) already.

I also though he, as well as Yates, chased a lot down today.
It's a very good point but whoever thought Cameron Antwi would have put in two MOM performances.
