To be honest the Blackpool job is an attractive one these days, I reckon the calibre of manager we get will be one of experience, for me and only my opinion, Nathan Jones would be a good move, he knows league 1 well and is only interested in his own teams performance whatever the result, he proved that at Luton. Evatt maybe one day but too soon for him at the moment, proven himself to be very aware at Barrow, developing for the future.

Under the Oyston’s I can totally understand a potential manager not wanting anything to do with us.

Under Sadler, a chairman willing to back him with cash, ambitious. Are we the biggest club in the world? No. But as far as league one clubs go struggle to find a more ambitious club

I want a manager who jumps into the air and runs up and down the touchline when we score. One who is in the ear of the 4th official when stupid decisions are made. One who appeals for penalties and offsides. One who the players run to when they score, and one who gives them a hug when they come off as subs. That kind of enthusiasm is infectious to the team and the fans.

Is Nathan Jones like that?

I think our situation is much closer to what Jones experienced at Luton than Stoke. I’d be pretty happy to give Jones a try, especially as he will come wanting to prove something.

You want Joey Barton then. 🥴
Personally, I couldn't give a monkeys if the manager yells and waves his arms around like a girl, or sits motionless in his dugout.
Winning football matches and playing entertaining football is sufficient.

The only job I could see Jones getting that he may want more than BFC is back to Luton? Otherwise - surely we're as good as he'll get for all the reasons listed above?

yes.

We are a very different proposition to Stoke. At Stoke the main brief was to vastly reduce the wage bill, whilst still maintaining/ improving league position. That was an almost impossible task in the time he was allowed to do the job. Here he would be allowed time, the reason Grayson was potted as we all know was not that we weren’t going forward as quickly as we would like. It was that we were going backwards. My first choice would be Evo, Jones is way ahead of anyone else as a terrific 2nd.

Can't see any reason why Nathan Jones wouldn't fancy coming here. Maybe if he's not quite up to scratch on how much the club has progressed over the last year? Either way that'll change once he's had a word with the board and realises how ambitious they are, plus the resources he'd have at his disposal.

Why would an out of work manager not fancy it? Hardly added to his CV at Stoke! Still not my choice.

Because he'll have had a fairly large pay out from Stoke and might be of the opinion he doesn't need the hassle of football management any more?

No one gets a payoff as such. They continue on the same money for the length of the contract. If they get another job, then they lose the rest of their money.

It's happened a few times that managers sit tight for a couple of years.

Speculative journalist tripe - Blackpool is no longer the leaky ship it was when it comes to gossip and sounds like pure speculation.

Didn’t know that Wiz very interesting. So some managers who’ve been potted say 2/3 times over a period of 3/4 years continually get a regular income from a number of clubs, SG for example?

Yes.... I think.. 😂. As someone said, he's a knob, but he'd be our knob... We need someone that everyone else hates. Classic, you hate them, but would love them if they played for you... Gregan style 😂

Clubs can't afford to pay, say three years' salary as a lump sum so it makes sense to them. However, if they then take another job, in effect that invalidates the original contract as if they'd not been sacked but just changed jobs and the new salary kicks in.

If we're paying a lot less than Stoke then Jones might elect to stay on his old pay.

Gregan with Macken as his number 2???
Nope... Macken failed at Radcliffe Borough 😂. Just an illustration as a player, Gregan we hated him, but if he played for us .. different story. Bit like Paul Dickov, always hated him, yet loved him in tangerine getting in the refs ear, and also a lovely bloke off the pitch, which as much as it goes against the grain to say... is also Sean Gregan! Really nice bloke

Would Stoke not make up the difference in that case?

This would be a wow appointment. Under Jones Luton were an absolute force in Leagues 1 and 2. If he had stayed at Luton for their championship season, would he have cut it at championship level? Maybe he would have due to the players at his disposal there.

Thanks for that Wiz 👍

Why should they? He's elected to take another job so that invalidates his current contract.

Pragmatism?

It would seem to make more sense to pay a portion of a wage to encourage someone to take a job, rather than sit it out.

So we’re at his mercy then ?, do one you clown if that’s the case.

No not at all. None of us have the contract in front of us that suggests what happens and when.
Many times with managerial sackings, the manager who's fired gets to negotiate a pay-off and they leave with a clean-break, free to work elsewhere.
The ones who are on the big bucks, like Jack Rodwell was at Sunderland, will sit it out and drain the club for every penny - but the ones with ambition and drive will happily reach a settlement and sever all ties with their former employers.

Alan Nixon is an impeccable source.
What is absolutely factual is that Jones has asked for a couple of days to think about it.

Could be a new Lee Clark who had a similar disastrous record at Birmingham.
Gary Bowyer would be my choice. He knows most of the players and would get back to playing passing and winning football.

He strikes me as a man with a massive ego. If this prevented him coming to us I wouldn't want him anyway but if he is willing to accept that Cardiff, Luton, Stoke, the Welsh National Team and Barcelona are insignificant in comparison with the Mighty I might consider his humble application. It would be interesting.

I think he's someone with passion and we've lacked that for a very long time. He is the board's number one candidate. In fact he's really the only one they want.

Who/what is your source?
I genuinely can't tell you as it would probably compromise them but I promise you that the source is absolutely impeccable. It's been a long time since I was privy to any real information coming out of the club, but I can assure you that Jones is the man, if he agrees to come.

And what if he doesn’t want it?

Jones started off being a popular choice with the supporters but that support is diminishing daily, there is an upsurge of support for Evo because of his connection to the club which endears him emotionally, rightly or wrongly, to us. We all know he would bite Sadlers hand off for the job and he bleeds tangerine and has his side playing wonderful attacking football. So who is the right fit for us?

This appointment has to be right and I’m not sure the board’s choice, if indeed it is Jones, is going to be the right one. If I was the owner of the club I would want someone who really wanted the job and who got his teams to play attractive, attacking football. Jones may tick one of those boxes but he isn’t coming across as ticking the other.

whenever I’ve interviewed for a job and got it, if I had to think about accepting it, I’ve never ended up taking it. Let’s get someone in who fits what we need and wants to be here.
