Alcohol Free Beers

I’d never had one in my whole life but recently have tried a few.

Guinness 0%……excellent

Brewdog Punk IPA (0.5%)…very good

Brooklyn Lager……More like an IPA as it’s more bitter than a normal Lager but good

Lucky Saint Lager……not bad at all

Any if you Lads/Lasses tried any AF Beers or wines and got any recommendations or ones to avoid?

Had this a couple of times in Spain. I thought it was really refreshing, but I was never a beer or lager connoisseur so maybe my standards are a bit lower than yours maybe 🧐

Was pleasantly surprised with the Guinness 👍

Becks Blue is not too bad, but it has that "taste" that lots of alcohol free stuff has.

Don't touch St Peter's with a bargepole, its just bottled wort.

Got to agree with the Guinness 00% being just like the "real thing", and St peters being rank.
I also found Heinekin very good too

On a differnet note - Im still trying to work out why Im drinking AF drinks, as they dont seem to have the relaxing effect which alcohol usually provides, and Im not sure if they are healthier in any way.
However, I dont have that sluggish / hangover feeling the morning after a few AF drinks

Ilkley Brewery’s Virgin Mary is my favourite, they have it in Booths.

To solve the fact they don’t relax you I pour a large vodka into each AF drink mate…..works a treat 👍

I’ve never understood the desire for a non alcoholic beer..
If I were to be asked what the nicest tasting cold drink is, I’d be thinking of something like a fresh orange and lemonade with ice.
Do some of you actually think beer is the nicest tasting drink? Serious question.
I’m obviously missing something, or there wouldn’t be a market for AF beers.

I do like the taste of beer.

I think it's psychosomatic to a certain extent - the taste of beer is related to the sense of 'a treat' or the relaxation a beer brings

I can't say I've had any great success tho in sticking to af beer - I've bought it a few times, when it's been dirt cheap and thought 'that was passable' and then just bought real beer next time.

I got a case of 24 AF Heineken from Morecambe market for about £3 - already out of date and I've probably drunk about 6 and still got 18 of them, now much further out of date. There's nowt up with them, tastes quite nice tbf.

It’s a good question but I guess it’s two things…

1) psychologically you feel are “having a beer”…… not a glass of pop

2) those of us of a certain age have drunk so much beer over so many years that we have “acquired’ the taste and actually do enjoy the taste

1) I can get that.
2) I’m in my 50’s , drunk way too much beer, but still haven’t found one that I’d drink if you took the alcohol away.

I’ll keep sampling, though, I’m nothing if not a tryer!
😁

I've never been a massive drinker but have cut down my alcohol intake of late.

Each to their own and it's clear that there plenty of folk who enjoy this alcoholic free tackle but I've never seen the point myself, if I'm not drinking I'd go for a soft drink - probably diet coke - over a Kaliber every time.

Good luck Johnno but I'm thinking that not even Blood could inspire me down the alcohol free path.

Brewdog Nanny State is decent.
Erdinger Alkohofrei is another good shout.

Agree though that Guinness 0% tops the lot

Kaliber is a throwback …surely it doesn’t still exist?…if it does, it shouldn’t 😁

I drink quite a few these days. Apparently it's also becoming a thing with the yoof. I prefer them to tins of pop etc if I'm cutting back.

These are all good:
Brewdog
Moretti
Aldi Sainte Etienne and , you'll like this one Blood ....
Peroni 👍

I'm exactly the same. If I'm not drinking alcohol I'll have a lime and lemonade or something.

Nothing worse than not getting pissed off beer
