So the doors open now, if you want to go visit your parents, no matter where they live, just say you had a distressing call from your father.

Yes I read about this but it`s hard to decide as we don`t know ,what she said could be true ....or not. We`ll never know so unless there is any proof we`ll just have to take her word for it which unfortunately does leave the door open for cheats to abuse the rules.
It helps if it’s the same week as your 50th
Ah didn`t know that, that`s where a teeny weeny shade of cynicism starts to creep in.

If my parents were ill 200 miles away and we’re elderly and vulnerable I’d be off like a shot. Sorry if that upsets anyone’s gentle sensibilities but I love and care for my parents.
Likewise, but that won't please the AVFTT Covid Nazi's...

And I think that’s the right thing to do.

And to be honest I’m pretty sure it’s allowed in emergencies.

But I haven’t read anything about this particular case so can’t comment on that.

I would do exactly the same if my parents hadn’t already expired ! My family are my priority no matter what the circumstances are, and what the law says .

If she’s found to be flouting the law and lying about the health of her parents then she will have to walk the plank and take the shit storm that will come her way.

Come on 50's, you'd never catch me being so indecisive :)

You are also not considering how long they had to endure having Les Dennis as a son-in-law.

I know what you're saying, but personally, I don't take what Amanda Holden says as medical advice.

No fan of AH but do not see a problem with it as long as she had a mask and sanitizer.
If she had buggered off abroad for jollies like a lot of halfwits then that would be different.

Totally agree but they shouldn't be used as an excuse to do what you want in a Cummings type way.
In a lot of these cases we will never know the truth so with the absence of facts better to assume innocence in my opinion.

I don't think that's the issue here, it just seems suspicious that it happens to be in the week of her 50th birthday.

It could be a total coincidence of course, if you believe in coincidences.

As I’ve said to ex, if she is found to be lying she will have to walk the plank with the rest of the liars and idiots.

I've had a number of distressing calls with my 90 year old Dad in Blackpool and he's clearly been affected by lockdown. I havent been over though.

PHE have said that 53% of people who have contracted COVID caught it at the supermarket. If you believe the world beating test and trace system
"53% of those who tested positive reported visiting a supermarket in past week".
I think that's different from saying they caught it there.
Public Health England admits: ‘It is very hard to find out where people catch Covid.
Care homes and workplaces top the current list – and Public Health England confirmed those workplaces may include supermarkets, but how many or what proportion isn’t made public.
Outbreaks at supermarkets involving members of the public do not feature.

What about hospital-acquired infections? I heard they were quite high. My neighbour was one who died after catching it in hospital.

Yep, my wife’s uncle had pneumonia and was admitted to hospital and died due to Covid. I’ve told her if I get ill I’ll take my chances at home

Been saying it all along. It’s kind of obvious.

Would have been much better if the Gov had sorted medical grade masks from the start, for everyone. At the very least - even now - they should be encouraging people to double mask, especially when inside (supermarkets being a case in point)

Got shot down on here a while ago about the number of people getting Covid in hospital, when going in for an unrelated condition. Now even the hospitals are admitting it.

My mum (late 80’s) caught it whilst in for other reasons. Luckily didn’t have any heavy symptoms.

That's good to hear Jonno, I'll bet you were very worried at the time.

My old dear (early 70's) got it a few months back and was not too good but has now recovered.

Being shot down by some on social media can be work as a badge of honour 😃
You’re right about hospitals though, unfortunately.

The point is we don’t know whether there was a genuine emergency, and if there was, did it require her to jump in her car and drive all that way? Should she have called an ambulance? It clearly wasn’t that serious, or she wouldn’t have returned the next day. When you add the 50th birthday, it all looks suspicious.

This reads like you take pride in this?? 🤔
