Amber weather warming - give me a break

So there’s an Amber warning for the hot weather. The chief exec of the Royal Meteorological Society has been spouting alarmist nonsense on the fake mainstream media.

Part of the advice (apparently she’s qualified to give health advice rather than report the weather) is for fit and healthy people to ensure they drink enough water.

I’m sick of these tedious weather scare stories. It’s summer. It’s hot. Tell us the weather forecast and then let us as adults, decide how to handle the weather. We don’t need to be told to drink water or as they said ‘avoid getting too much sun’.

It’s pathetic. She was asked if the Amber warning was as serious as the Red warning we had a few weeks ago. Really? Jeez.

On the bbc radio news this morning the newsreader announced the weather with an apology to those who don’t like the hot weather. She said whilst some will be pleased if they have holiday time from work, we should remember that not everyone likes the hot weather. It was like listening to an obituary. Depressing woke lamestream media. No longer can we be happy when we have a spell of nice weather. We should instead worry about dropping dead, or if we’re lucky enough to survive the week, instead worry about the world coming to an end.

Phew, there's a lot in here.

Do you know anyone who works in A+E? Because they will tell you some of the most frustrating days are hot, summer days where packs of men and women go out on the piss, don't drink water all day, stay out in the sun with no protection, and then go to the hospital and are basically told in more polite ways 'drink some water you idiot'.

Sometimes public messaging will be delivered which you personally feel isn't necessary for you. Well done for bring smart I guess, but the point of public messaging is it has to cater for 60 million people, many of whom are not very clever. We know that excess deaths happen during very hot weather. This is an objective fact that we know. So why you would be so upset at public messaging to help prevent this, I don't know.

Bring it on!
I’m just about to head up to Ullswater with the grandkids for a couple of nights.
It’s their first camp, hoping to give them the outdoorsman bug, no rain please.

Malced writes a lot about the weather

He may struggle with being challenged by someone called Foggy

If someone isn’t clever enough to know to drink water when it’s hot then they deserve all they get. We don’t need the MSM to tell us how to live thank you.

Ok but you can see how organisations/government agencies/media may not have the same 'we don't care about people dying' attitude as you.

A third to a half of Britain's don't wear sunscreen when they are outside in the heat, which could cause significant long term health effects. Protect yourself from the sun is quite simply very important national health advice.

utter drama dross, thanks for telling me I don’t care about people dying though, Usual shite I get on here.

I am seriously worried we might have an ice cream shortage and having skeepless nights

You literally just said if people don't take precautions they deserve all they get, which can and does include death.
No you implied people go out drinking all day and don’t drink water and wear sun screen COULD POTENTIALLY die, I said you were being dramatic, because let’s be honest, they just don’t do they. They might have a bad head and get dehydrated, boo boo, you get what you deserve. Have you never been out and had a cracking day on the lash in the sun and woke up feeling like shit. Probably not.

Heatwaves cause excess deaths, this is a fact. Call it woke nonsense if you want, for whatever agenda you have, but heat cause deaths. Over a thousand this summer in Portugal, where heat is listed as a cause of death on certificates, unlike some other countries where estimation is used.

Not wearing sunscreen, which a majority of the UK doesn't enough, can cause skin cancer which kills thousands of people a year.

You're going to call this dramatic, or woke or something silly. But these are just facts. Getting upset that steps are taken to try to reduce this, is incredibly odd to me.

🙄 Scara is NOT UPSET!!!!!!

He does seem to be an angry man with issues, mind
It must be absolutely exhausting for someone living like this. Turning on the radio and taking issue with someone saying such trivial stuff as ' some people don't like the heat' and convincing yourself this is the work of the woke leftist agenda that is coming for you. It must be a completely miserable experience fighting this many imaginary battles.

This, back in my day you could guarantee it was full of pissed up idiots who think lager is hydrating and sunburnt kids dragged in by panicking parents because they didn't use a hat or cream.

People are told this information in simple terms because people are generally ** idiots.

I live near a river and whenever I walk over the bridge there's a pub down below with an outside seatin area, and all you see looking down is shiny red bald heads from men drinking all day without putting on any sunscreen. There's still a ridiculous culture of thinking it's a bit gay to put on sunscreen

This from the poster who gave us all a public health warning about mayonnaise.
That wasn’t a public health warning. That was me giving my opinion. Feel free to gorge on Mayo and drop dead if you choose. I wouldn’t bat an eye lid. Nothing personal.

Be careful walking near water. In fact maybe you should wear armbands and don’t play with matches (unless you’ve already fallen into the river). In fact stay indoors and watch the news and wait to be told what you should and shouldn’t do. Sorted.
And by the way please can we get over the nhs guilt tripping on every topic. They do a great job but they’re paid to do it. It’s getting boring.

I regret to inform you there are some railings by this pub to stop people falling into the river. Unfortunately the woke mob strikes again. You always have to be on the lookout for the Marxist left agenda of basic safety measures.

Stop trying to turn it round ,the only one resembling a leftist is you🙁

It's not guilt tripping fella, if you have an actual emergency and can't get through triage you'd probably see things differently.

Whereas I'm struggling to see how these warnings remotely impact your life beyond making you a bit grump and muttering 'health and safety gone mad' to yourself?

This is coming from a poster who once said he wants to "fat shame the obese" in an effort to help health standards (a method that does not work), and now has an issue with advice that tries to get people to drink water.

Agenda ? the only agenda i have is trying to live my life without clowns like you telling me how to do it.

I sort of agree with both you and the Met Head to be fair.

The vast majority don't need advice I accept, but I guarantee there will be loads out on the Prom even now with no sun protection and taking no fluid onboard. Sunny weather brings out the idiots.

You cant do anything for idiots. People need to stop trying to live peoples lives for them. When your an adult you have to take responsibility for your own actions. Some make stupid mistakes, that's life and will never change no matter the amount of utter bullshit from the MSM. If people are dying in this country because of the heat i would suggest there's another reason lurking in the back ground that might of exacerbated the demise.

But the warnings don't effect you, I don't understand the anger?

It’s a observational post about the ridiculous OTTnews reporting about the weather. Let’s not turn it into a boo hoo hoo session for the nhs. Or should we start clapping lightly so we don’t overheat?

Turn it off then. I manage to not really give a fuck what it says on the radio/telly/newspaper and the only time I ever hear about it is when people on this forum get really angry about what they're literally choosing to watch/read/listen too.

Nice swerve from 'this wokey lefty heat warning is making me very grumpy' to 'bloody NHS wanting sympathy all the time'.

Its relentless.

Why do things have to be artificially inflated to ‘anger’ by those with opposing views?. I suspect it’s to try and make the other person seem irrational.
News flash - there are such things as displeasure and dissatisfaction. You can dislike something without anger being a factor.

Call it anger, annoyance, displeasure or dissatisfaction, I don’t get the need to vent it on a football forum. The irony is, that by doing so, you’ve helped to more widely publicise the public health message, if only across our small forum. You’ve been used.

I can talk about what I like on here.
But whilst your on the topic of needing to post, I’d like to say I don’t get why you needed to post.

I’d day most daily deaths directly or indirectly are to do with fatness, how many daily deaths cos of the heat during the three to four warm days we get a year? Half a dozen maybe!! To be honest it only seems to be fat people that feel the heat🙁
listen, fatness costs loads fitness costs fuck all👍🏻

Absolutely you can, and it’ll attract responses.

Seriously though, if a message helps save just a few from injury / illness or death then it has to be worthwhile. You take from it what you need, something or nothing.

I’m away currently, but I care for my parents who both have dementia. I am fortunate that others are looking out for them, because they forget to drink fluids, which for them and the elderly in general can be fatal. It causes infection and confusion very quickly. If a message makes us think about others in need, then it’s worthwhile.

Show me where i said that.
"if you’re so worried about death then please join me in my efforts to fat shame the morbidly obese. In doing so they may too be motivated to avoid an untimely death." Post 76 in this thread.

Fat shame is of course not the answer.

I don’t know what is though? It does cause misery and illness, and is in the hands of the sufferer to resolve (duly noted those who are dependant mentally on others rely on them to consider the diet of the person they care for).
