Anyone else think Bowler happy to stay

He admits himself he is a confidence player, Really liked by the rest of the squad and would get loads of game time and opportunity to impress PL teams.
At the moment if he jumped ship he would likely be a bench warmer Brought on for last 15 minutes if they were chasing the game..
Do not think he will move till January myself, and he may hang fire till summer to see what offers he gets as a free transfer.
Best scenario is sign a new contract with a realistic release clause to talk to interested parties.

I'm sure he is happy. He is playing regularly and more times than not he plays well.
That being said if someone approached me to do the same job for a shed load more money I'd do it and wouldn't blame him for going.
I want him to stay and there's not long to go of the window but we know how it goes. Could very well be a deadline day signing for someone.

I’d hope he’d sign a new contract, but as he hasn’t done already, I doubt he will and I’d guess he’ll be gone soon unfortunately.

Only recently, Appleton has said:
"Listen, he's had discussions and I know his agent's had discussions with Ben (Mansford) and the club."

Zero chance he will sign a new contract. Would you? If we don't sell him he will walk into a big team next summer with a nice fat signing on fee and big wages. Cant blame him, he's a Prem quality player, he deserves it

He could become our highest paid player with a sensible release clause by signing a contract.
I think if Critch was still around he would be off, as in a defensive team it was easy to nullify him and did not suit his game, but with the more attack minded approach he could really stand out and as Hubbie said he is the best winger in the Championship.

The 1 + 1 deal was his choice, so I guess always planned on moving once he had shown his worth

From the noises he seems happy, Husbands said 'and hopefully for us going forward' or something along those lines, maybe just a way of speaking but they might know if he wants to stay.

Tbh he should sign a big deal, if we were ever going to adjust the wage structure hes a player worth doing it for.

The money can be covered by his increased value.

However as long as it doesn't create disharmony, but surely people can see hes a step above anyone really.

But probably won't re sign.

Every footballer is happy .... until they get a better offer.

That's life.

And there you have it.

We are a shop window for talent like Bowler. Give them the opportunity to show what they can do, and then let them leave with our blessing when this results in a better offer.

Without wanting to be contentious, I don't think JB is of Premiership standard.
Admittedly, there's a buzz of anticipation when he gets the ball and, yes, he can make things happen at this level.
However, I believe top-notch defenders would suss and sniff out his threat
Furthermore, I cringed, last Saturday, whenever he got the ball in our own half
I do believe he wants to play at a higher level, think he's deserved his chance and wish him the best of luck, but I'd be careful what I wished for, if I were in his situation

The chances are , he will improve further if he stays with us . He needs to score more goals and get more assists . If this happens, he will get his dream move, or definitely a good move , but those improvements might take another 12 - 18 months. So if we could get him on a 3 year deal that would be great for us .

That all makes perfect sense, but money talks and if a Premiership club comes in and he feels he won’t be a bench warmer, he’ll go.

He came as a free & was allowed to show his worth & he started to, but lacked consistency, perhaps due to Critchleys set up, then the mysterious dropping towards the dismissal end to the season. I’m not particularly impressed by players who run their contracts down, purely to get a signing on fee. But as someone has already said money seems to be the main motivating factor. You could argue he owes us something or on the flip side we are lucky to have him with our wage structure. If only so we could get something for him perhaps, after this season, he could do us a favour by signing a new contract with various clauses and benefit both of us, by playing his balls of, knuckling down & letting his skill boost up a transfer fee. Whilst the club remains silent on this I’m sure they will have tried to achieve this.

I agree, no of PL quality atm (but probably none of the teams promoted are), so the question is how does he get that extra level. Stay here and he'll get better, naturally, or go to a PL team who should have more and better coaches meaning, whilst he may not play that much (sub cameos), he'll get up to the higher standard quicker and have a shed load of money on top.

If it's solely in his hands, as it probably is, he'll take the move and in all truth 99% of us would.

Bowler is in a win win position. He either gets a good move now or he does another season and then enters negotiations as a free agent. I reckon he's pretty chilled and happy to see what transpires. Happy to stay, happy to go.

Of course..... we could do a Florist and get promoted!! If he stays the season and that happens then he is likely to sign a new deal with us a la Johnson at Florist.

Plus, as Phil said, if we keep Bowler this season and he helps us not to get relegated (the opposite of. my earlier post) then the money we would lose by getting relegated would cost us much more than selling him now for 3 million. If we have another full season out of him then to have a player of that quality far outweighs selling him now.

I guess it depends how much is offered and whether the club decide they can’t turn it down, or it’s worth a punt on trying to get to the playoffs. A bird in the hand springs to mind.

"Without wanting to be contentious" but your post is nothing but negative against him. I'd say that's quite contentious.

He sounded relaxed and happy with his football in the pre view show interview.
How things are playing out in the background is anyone’s guess. Suggested if he starts to get the numbers, goals and assists, he would be content. No idea what will transpire but it’s good to watch him try with the pool.

He’s not happy to stay he’d rather be playing for someone else on 20 grand a week
He is putting loads of effort in.
If he were hoping for a move this window surely he would not be risking injury.
That is also the Contra argument to running his contract down and leaving on a free. He could get a Virtue /Ward type injury keeping him out for a year and then teams would be reluctant to risk him

Could be right unless we get our act together.

Agree with that and likely think both player and agent knows this as well. The question is when do you jump ships?

If I was a football player, I would be loving every game I was lucky to be involved in. Instead the game has descended into transfer moves, money and wages. What will be, will be, regarding Bowler and Im not sure if can hack it at another level. Just wanna see him play his part for the pool. Albeit he is the only player that makes an old man stand up when he gets the ball. Tony Green was the last one, perhaps Charlie Adam in more recent times.

Lose the next few league games and him and his agent will see a season of struggle ahead and would sooner be sat warming that Prem bench than lose the momentum and reputation he's gained so far.
