Anyone glad we lost to West Ham?

Two reasons for this
1. Effectively we would have struggled to get rid of the O's if they'd had another Prem win - I reckon with their newfound ill-gotten gains they'd have paid Belokon off and we'd have bee stuck with them
2. Funny how so many people talk about our impressive play off record - the defeat to West Ham is actually a very welcome blot on our copybook because if we'd have gone in to tomorrow's final without a defeat on our record (and I know what happened in "90 and "96) then I'd have been worried. As it is, we can go in to tomorrow's game without that curse hanging over us .. unlike Lincoln!

We lost to Torquay in our first final.

Wouldn't the rules have made OO have to sell the club if we'd gone up?

It’s hard to know what would have happened. maybe they’d have cut and run with the money and Belokon would have ended up owner. I wouldn’t swap belokon for Sadler for all the tea in China btw! It Didn’t feel like a good thing on the day though! I Remember feeling cheated as Baptiste was fouled clear as day in the build up to their goal.

As we had lost a couple of times before as you mention, I don’t think it would have any bearing on tomorrow though.

Yes . Very glad . The Oystons will have just asset stripped the club of the money we would still have gone down that prem season and Oyston will have had the money to pay Belokon off

We would now be stuck with the Oystons

Ricardo Vaz Te did us a huge favour that day and even though he has zero association to our club i think all Blackpool fans should have a framed photo of him on their mantelpiece

It’s not pleasant losing. With the benefit of hindsight perhaps it helped with the removal of the scum. Worst I’ve felt was after the Torquay game as that was my first taste of Wembley & losing. As bad as Italia 90 & that was grim. But we’re not going to lose tomorrow. 👍🤞😄

He would have just transferred it to George!
That would have been a tax nightmare for them. The only person he could transfer the club to without a huge tax liability would have been VO….and they were meant to be getting divorced!
…and to answer the original question - delighted we lost 👍

Surely another promotion would have just entitled Belokon to more money when they'd have just stripped more money. But then would everything have gone down the same route? Probably not.

It would have been a poor 2nd season i reckon, another year of no investment transfer wise from the Oystons might have seen us get absolutely embarrassed over 38 games.

Likewise Torquay was my first experience and afterwards went to house party in London which ended in a brawl .

Not a good day .

Ha ha well we went silently on the tube & overland trains to my mates sisters in Sutton, where nowhere was open & there were 2 bottles of beer in her fridge & to top it all only 1 bed 😂. I can assure you it was back to back with boxers definitely on, how his wife managed to deal with his flatulence is beyond me. A night I’ll never forget 😂

No he would have passed control to others in his mutant family for appearances sake but still pulled the strings, remember you do not get rid of a cashcow

No, we dominated that game and played some superb football. That loss was hard to take.

Club ownership was a different consideration, and it’s arguable that the O’s may have sold earlier, having won the jackpot twice.

You are forgetting timperley that the Oystons never sold .
Owen would never have sold the club . His ego wouldn’t have let him.

That sounds a lot worse than I went through to be honest

Funny thread this as at the time some folk said 'if the O's are doing ok then so will we'.

Equally if you guys had gone up then a season or two in the top tier might have staved off the suing (of fans),because the O's might then have cashed in and sold the club.
