Anyone left supporting Grayson?

Think you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone following that result. Keeping an eye on the old site for those who have been to the game to see if there was any consolation in that performance!

I genuinely thought he might turn it round last night but instead defied the odds and made a complete hash of his team selection. Why drop Tilt? Why play Nuttall? Why drop Gnando? Why keep Spearing? Why no left side?

Too many basic errors that my 10 year old wouldn’t have made on Football Manager!

He has a new group of players, the first season was always going to be difficult and ironically I think he'll get stronger for the recent poor form. He just needs to lose some of his misplaced loyalty to certain players and find a first XI which he can play week in, week out. I think he will have learnt a lot from the two different performances on Tuesday - second half the general consensus is that we didn't actually play that badly which gives him something to build on. The worst thing we could do now is get rid of him as it would put us in further turmoil and I con't actually think there's a stand out 'available' candidate out there at the moment.

Hard to defend him after this set of results. Imagine if these results had been at the start of the season?

I'm not exactly supporting him. I guess it's a sort of grudging neutrality following the transfer window.

Madine hit the post in added time today with only the keeper to beat. If that had gone in, the draw might have made us think we had stopped the rot.

The real crunch will be if we lose to Southend.

There can’t be many supporting Grayson, how can there be? except that OG on the other site that is!!

Depends how you define "supporting"

If you mean understanding that getting on his and the players backs during the next few games whilst he tries to get the new arrivals to gel is going to serve no positive purpose whatsoever, I'd say there's quite a lot.

Sadly I thought it was a good idea only for the reason that he has a very good record at this level. However he has lost the dressing room, he is not the manager use to be and he has a terrible record this season. So I tend to agree with others although I disagree that he should go now. The season is over for us we will finish mid table so let him get on with it till the end of the season and then get rid.

No 100% not I don’t do that and hope many wouldn’t. But I reserve the right to moan about his lack of tactical nouse, his lack of motivational skills on social media and the like

You don’t achieve what he has achieved by having no tactical nous, though I don’t think he comes across as inspiring much confidence in his ability during his pre/post match interviews.

Think he has to go for the sake of the club, the future and building for next season. Thanks for what you did in 2007 but sadly Simon Sadler’s first mistake - in football, you should never go back!

Yes, because in reality we've only just started to build something. Summer was a rushed job all around. This window is the first step to creating the squad Grayson needs to succeed. Summer will bring more investment and I'm confident the club and Grayson will turn things around.

I'm half expecting us to break or equal our transfer record in the summer. Confident in a playoff push next season.
Rebuilding a club takes years not months

I thought the most telling comment on this thread was comparison with Championship manager. Think that's half the problem. Real football at this level isn't that easy.

Him and the team are having a rough spell, would give him till end of year, see how it goes with his players. If it gets better, keep him on and let him build a good squad for next year. Cant think of anyone who could do better.

Either way I think the board will give him until the end of the season, but if we don't win at the weekend or against Gillingham the Tuesday afterwards then I'll officially be in the Grayson Out camp

When I think back it was a proper knee jerk appointment by Sadler. Did he just phone Larry and ask him did he want the job with no plans in place, no thought on football he'd play, players he'd recruit etc etc. I think had Sadler looked at his previous clubs and studied win ratios, style of play, fan reaction etc and even made up a bogus username and asked AVFTT readers for their views, he might have come to a different conclusion!
