Anyone remember Wimpy in Blackpool?

Victoria St. I was thinking it was on Abingdon St, but then remembered that was the Golden Egg.

McDonald's has over 36,000 restaurants in the world and 1300 in the UK. Wimpy now have 71 and 4 of them are in Liverpool 🙄 . Who was it who said wimpy were better? They all closed down for a reason, they were shit.
They closed down in the same way VHS video recorders overcame betamax.
The marketing was far better on the side of McD's and VHS
Neither Wimpy or Betamax were shit

This.

Betamax was better quality (Sony knocked out real quality back then) but VHS was cheaper, that was it really.

Gosh Wimpy! That seems like it`s taking me back to a previous life and until this thread had happily been completely obliterated from my memory bank(like all too many things these days) but while McD`s like most American companies have had a far superior marketing campaign I do think their fare is superior to what I now recall Wimpy had to offer with their brittle rock hard overtoasted breadcakes which were of modest quality at best that needed plenty of ketchup squirted from those large plastic tomatoes in a desperate attempt to give some taste to their bland rubbery burgers.

I suspect nostalgia is clouding a few memories on here.

There is a Wimpy in the place I currently live Andover (moving back to FY6 later in the year) and i have never been in it. It is right next to a Greggs so gets very little trade.

Ziggies, on Dickson Road, behind the Claremont Hotel. 🍔👍
Gosh that’s a blast from the past. Kids birthday parties in there were met with rave reviews. Poor old Mr Wimpy just used to get battered by youngsters bored of doing the “Superman”. They had an upstairs function room at the one near Coral Island.

Ronald McDonald had his train which were fitted out as kiddies seats if I remember correctly trying to squeeze into them.

My mate Alf (nickname) was Mr Wimpy for a while, he hated it!

What a load of memories this brings back!

I can remember going to Clifton Street for a sit down and the one opposite TK Max.

I must be losing it because although there was obviously one on Victoria Street, I can't even think where Victoria St and even after googling it I'm still not sure.

Used to go to the one on Clifton Street at a young age with my mum and dad and the Knickerbocker Glories and Derby Longboat's did it for me and my brother.

I think McDonalds was cooler when it opened.

Am I am imagining it, or was there a Wimpy on Victoria Street near the Winter Gardens? Further up from the entrance to the Hounds Hill Shopping Centre?
Yes that is exactly where the first one was. I used to be always in it. They had those linked up mini juke boxes on each table and they cooked the burgers for you at the counter. Brilliant and the burgers were great. Eventually closed and then a new one opened up near Coral Island and I think there was one next to Rileys on the corner if I remember rightly.
