Applehead

Where do I say I was happy with it, the build up was ok, particularly 2nd half, we dominated and didnt take advantage of any of our chances, it was the final 3rd play once again that let us down with the completely out of form players who played, like CJ and Lavery.
Well you did say "we played OK", that suggests you were reasonably content. It's obvious we are still short in the midfield, wings and central striker positions. I understand the call for patience, it is only 3 games but I'm really not impressed with Appleton so far, he needs help from the board and quickly.

I think with the departing players, this will free up wages. I bloody hope so anyway!
hopefully this gives us a reasonable war chest to go and get a bloody striker. would love to know why we are not pursuing players from abroad. has that now been kyboshed.

We did, we dominated and up until the final 3rd it was alright.

After that it was predictable utter shite final pass or finishing.

The players who played up top should have been good enough but weren't. Not Appletons fault.

He needs backing from fans and board.

As I’ve already posted on here, Appleton wasn’t my first choice and I was disappointed. Last night was bang average but was also useful in highlighting the issues we have even further. In the final third we are hopeless. We were never in any danger of conceding and completely controlled the game (which should be a given against a team like that) but the lack of a cutting edge is obvious and palpable. The board have to decide if they want to push the boat out to get the manager the players he needs for us to retain our Championship status. We need a quality midfielder, two strikers and a wide player. Our strikers are all sub standard for this level -all of them and without exception are just not good enough. I think we’re ok defensively but you win games at the top end of the pitch and these forward players will see us in big trouble if we don’t replace them. How Critchley didn’t see this I’ll never know.
Think he did. Saw it was going to be difficult this season with same personnel. I think the 5 nil at Peterborough killed him. All contributed to him doing a runner.

Who did some of you want that's realistic seeing as though Appleton isn't good enough!
Everyone I know wants Evatt. Although a Legend with us, It will take a lot to get him away from Bolton. Seems to want to continue on with them. Respecting his contract I think. Will be in demand more and more.
let's give Appleton a chance. Only 2 minutes since that walked out on us.

I'd not want Evatt, just in case he fails. Love the guy!

Appleton needs a chance and needs backing

Agree with that and as has been said before it's ok agreeing a fee (we could be offering +10 million) but what is the point if the personal terms will not be met?

No player will join us if he isn't getting what he thinks he should or less than what he's been on with no exceptions there, and we cannot compete on these levels with others in the Championship or some in League 1 or 2.

Smoke and mirrors from the back rooms of Bloomfield is what we seem to have been fed on since before Critchley's departure and Appleton's appointment, personally I'm not enjoying any of it.

The rules will be much stricter now.
It’s harder now with the point scoring to qualify

The lad Riis upfront for Pne , wouldn’t qualify if we were trying to sign him now .

But it’s the same rules for everyone, probably why prices even in league 1 seem excessive, smaller pool of players to shop in .

Because it's the best formation for attacking football and all the best clubs in the world play this way.

Put it this way, Arsenal & City wouldn't be sending us youngsters if we're playing 442 hoof it to Madine

Get with the times.
Well thanks for that we should be going up as champions then?! 🤣

Too many "so called fans" wanting us to lose to suit their hatred of Appleton,he wasnt my choice by a country mile but I will get behind him and the club to succeed

I’ll be judging him does next 10 games
It must be jobs for the boys, thats the only reason I can think of why applehead would be appointed.
My understanding is that the appointment of Appleton was made by the board - a joint unanimous decision

Simon Sadler -Appleton is not one of his boys and had probably never met him before

Brett Gerrity - Appleton is not one of His boys and had probably never met him before

Ben Mansford - I believe did know Appleton but he is unlikely to have wanted to compromise his own position by stating that Appleton was the best candidate when he wasn’t

I don’t know who else was interviewing

I’m pretty certain that in light of the above and bearing in mind it was a unanimous decision involving two people who have nothing to with the Appleton prior to this that this “jobs for the boys theory “ is not only factually inaccurate but actually f@@@ing nonsense

The answer isn't to change manager, it's to bring in players that can give us a goal threat in midfield and up front. You could put any manager in charge and we'd still have this issue - we had the same problem last season too.

I like the players we're going for, but it's time for the board to stop flapping about and let us know whether it's serious about competing in the championship. If it is, then we need to get a couple of our targets across the line. We've dithered for over a year now about spending £1m when we clearly have the money. It's time to be mo
BUT WE HAVENT GOT ANY PLAYERS
So why's that ?

There was a post on here the other day asking had we underestimated him because Patino was allowed to come here because they value Appleton as a coach. The fact we've been trusted with Prem players does show that he is valued and regarded as a coach. For me, it's like an interior designer who hasn't quite got the right furniture to make a room perfect and he keeps rearranging them until he hopefully finds the right combination. For that he needs to buy a few more pieces and have the patience of the home owner (the fans!).

You will find that ben mansford didnt just know him, but was his agent.
And we can also wonder why such a long term contract given inmediately to a new manager. Very unusual.

But you could be right, even though it looks like jobs for the boys, it possibly isnt.
