Appleton

No, there is something of the night about him and his gym scowl. He left after a few games cos he didn't do his homework on the stains, and his sidekicks were animals
This is as close to my thoughts as you could possibly get.

He’s got dead eyes that seem hollow and stare into your soul. He basically tipped up at Blackpool with his smaller mate who seemed to be there just to instigate fights with the opposition managers and he’s also really really dull and lacking in any kind of personability.

So basically MacDonald is the ideal choice because he was devoid of personality?

Personally like watching the scrapping on the sidelines as we spawn another 1-0 defensive home win.

If this is true the senior management are out of touch with the fans. While this board may not represent all of the clubs following, I do not know ANYONE who would see this as a progression or a positive step. I have nothing against the guy - I just don’t see it. Anyway as ever just my opinion.

A no thank you from me (just to clear that up)

No…. Appleton is the last person I’d want at the Club, because of his lack of personability. 👍

Where did you dig Mugdonald up from?

I’m already in enough bother on here at the moment, without adding to my rap sheet.

Someone else can stick their head above the parapet for once 😂
I’ll do it. Appleton is boring as ****.
He may have endured, although very briefly, the Oystons tenure, that doesn’t change the fact he’s an uninspiring manager with zero charisma in terms of manager charisma or playing style.
There 🫣

It would be a no from me. He had a good reputation when he came to us last time and he was quite an exciting appointment at the time. Sir Jimmy recommended him to Karl, I seem to remember.

Since then his reputation is no longer the same for me. As has already been said, he hasn’t done anything to warrant the job this time around.

I fear we will get this wrong with either Duff or Appleton and be on the search again come Christmas. Get Evatt called, in tomorrow, done deal by the weekend!!

Why would the manager who narrowly avoided relegating Lincoln City from League One, be in contention for the Blackpool job?
As much as I don’t want him, they did only finish 4 points behind Cheltenham.

I wonder how many are saying no to Appleton but yes to Duff? Neither stand out for me.

We’re a hard bunch to please as a fan base! Don’t envy Simon and Mansford with this appointment.

I’d go Duff or Rosenior over Appleton.

I wish we’d stop talking about Evatt, not happening.

I agree although Duff is at a different career stage to Appleton. He's had no failures on his CV.

Is there actually any evidence that Evo has been interviewed. (Or anyone else except probably Duff) Evo s on a good contract , I'm pretty sure hell be on a tasty promotion bonus, and Bolton have got to be up there next season as a favourite. He was also, apparently, passed over in the last interviews when he was at Barrow. I don't get why people think we would want him, and I get even less why he would want to be here.
My first choice from the small list that seem to have been. interviewed is Evo, followed by Rosenior the Appleton and finally Duff.

Plays the football the board wanted when they came in and we are yet to see. Young manager and is getting a tune out of a half decent Bolton team. On paper they aren’t that good in my opinion.

Smashed it at Barrow with his style of football and won the league. Got Bolton up and finished 9th in first season.

Compare that to Duff and they are worlds apart. And to why would he want to be here? Why wouldn’t he should be the question. I’m sure he’s living local, has a connection with the club and the fans and we are a championship club. It’s a step up to where he is at, again in my opinion.

I think Evo would be preferable to Duff, but I just think we are making too much of his Blackpool connection. He's contracted to Bolton and they'll want to keep him. They're not a small club, he has unfinished business which could be realised at the end of next season, I doubt if we would want to buy out his contract, then increase his salary, and also make up for any bonuses he will probably be on to get Bolton promoted. He will also have a connection with Bolton fans by now. Oh, and we knocked him back last time, the same ones who would be interviewing him this time. I'd love to see him here but can't see it myself. But who knows. Stranger things happen 👍

Is in the frame for the job according to Alan Nixon....No thanks!!!
A HHUUUUGGGEEEE NO!! Massive step back if we get him, especially when the club discuss getting a new manager who needs to “fit in well”.
Well we had him a few years ago, he had zero charisma and jumped ship at the earliest opportunity. Considering what Ben said the other day, I don’t think he would “want” to be here, I think it’s more he’ll see it as a job. Nothing more.
Can’t stand him either. Sorry but it’s true.

We didn’t knock him back, he was still in the latter stages of trying to get promotion for Barrow and to come to us then would’ve been the biggest dick move I think anyone could do, even more so than NC.
We got NC because at the time he wasn’t tied down. Evatt was trying to get his club promoted ffs.

Not keen on this, and not many are it seems. From a purely footballing point of view though there is some logic in it, and it could work out. If he is appointed I will certainly get behind him, but given what happened last time I think he will need a good start or I think it could get hard for him very quickly.

Timely reminder: when something like this appears in the media it’s because someone decides it’s in their interests to give the story to someone like Mr Nixon…

(Also: even if you’re relatively set on the young, up-and-coming coach, it does make sense to talk to one or two in the ‘experienced’ bracket as well just to see what’s out there)

Why such a negative reaction to Appleton ?
He left after a few weeks having sussed the Oystons out, declaring that “ Blackpool FC is run on a day to day basis”. He happens to be a very good coach, and has plenty of contacts in the game. Pool could do far worse.

He left 10 yrs ago . He’s experienced . He’s young.

Taking the emotion out of this he’s a good candidate .

To contrast that though he's just "Middle of the Road", is a pretty uninspiring character and will be on a hiding to nothing with the fans from the day he arrives.

I can remember him being hailed as the next "Bright Young Manager" by Fergusson and in all honesty the bloke has flattered to deceive, he's just bang average with a flat personality.

I hate to say it, but he just doesn't come across as a particularly likeable bloke and not just that, he just doesn't feel very "Blackpool"

It's a massive no from me..... I'd put him on Crayoning & Glove Wetting duty with Duff 🤣

No harm in interviewing the likes of Appleton and asking them which players they would consider signing. I recall Wellens saying he suggested signing Jerry and Keishi at his interview and that worked out well when they were signed !

Out of the 3 Duff Rosenior and Appleton for me it would be

1. Rosenior
2. Appleton
3. Duff

And yes we’d all like Evatt but no indication this will happen for reasons given many times before on here
