Appleton's resilience

Like many I wasn't thrilled by Appleton"s appointment but I've been reading up on him and he has had to show grit.
His career was ended early at the age of 27 due to a knee injury.
He subsequently sued the surgeon who carried out the op for negligence and won £1.5m in damages.
Must be tough to lose your career at such a young age, especially when it should have never happened.
Last year, as we know, he successfully overcame testicular cancer. So he has had a bit of a rocky road.
Seems like a gritty character and I for one will be backing him.

As I said on another thread he deserves some good luck let’s hope he has it with us.

Thanks for the summary Sb.
When a young professional goes through pain & disappointment, he either crumbles, or he fights for a new career - MA has done the latter.
He'll possess a hard inner core, which bodes well for managing a squad of often challenging footballers.
Given the support of the club, his coaches, the players and supporters, I believe he has what it takes to be a success with our club.
