Apter sub again

From the highlights only, can only really attribute any blame against the 1st Saints goal, where he could have been a bit quicker to see the danger and stronger in the challenge.
Otherwise it looked like men against boys.
Jones was always going to make early changes 0-5 down at home before half-time.
 
In my opinion, Rob is a fine footballer with excellent attacking skills. The way football is changing, however, means that he really needs to up his defensive game.

Or - dare I day it - was maybe having to shoulder the responsibility for some of the quartet of goals conceded less than halfway through the first-half...

Feels like he’s going to be made a scapegoat for that thrashing.
Jones could have subbed any of the actual defenders in that half, but Apter was brought off first.

Apter just doesn't fit in the system they're playing tbh.

I think consistent Championship football might be a leap too soon but he could potentially get there if managed right and playing in a system that suits him.

Not that we had a say by all accounts but the fee we got for him is looking quite good at the moment.
 
He left us so whatever happens it was his choice/demands. I don't want him to fail, but for whatever reason be it money or attitude he made his choice. It shouldn't surprise me as youngsters seem to make rash decisions & always want everything yesterday.

I'd add that even though he's not playing he's probably getting far better coaching than he did here, so if he has to move on he'll be a better player for that. Of course he'll need pitch minutes, which may come in the form of a loan in January.

He won't move on though. CA have invested too much money in him and the player himself won't want to drop wages. A loan looks nailed on unless he breaks through.
 
The grass isn't always greener, sometimes Tangerine grass is the best. He isn't and never will be a wing back, he's an attacking player, maybe we can buy him back for £500k in January?
 
Charlton sadly mid-table and very unlikely to come down - shame as really despise Jones and would love to have seen them relegated.
I still think he bought both Carey and Apter out of spite because he still hates us!

I think he bought Carey because he's a good player - and he's right, whatever people on here think.

It wasn't spite. They've taken their pick of L1 talent where it looks likely they can make the step up with them. And added a few that Nathan Jones trusts from Luton who can do a job.

Apter, Carey, Kelman, Knibbs, Olaofe, probably forgotten some others but it's what you have to do to try and find a way to compete even in the Championship now. Shop in the £1m-£3m market and get in there first before anyone else thinks of it.

Even just in the last couple of seasons you can see where it's changing and you can't just take on the next league up with vibes alone. We'd get eaten alive now if we tried to start a Championship season with Reece James and Grant Ward as our centre mid. Or ragging Gary Madine way beyond his reasonable use just because someone spotted Rochdale having a firesale and thought Jake Beesley was the answer.
